i’ll write that down and give it a try.. only heard something about recoverplus blabla, don’t remember...
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:43 PM UTC · #3200
theres a lot of em thats scams.... the getdatabacksimple had a trial
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:43 PM UTC · #3201
and i could recover it and look at it but not save it
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:44 PM UTC · #3203
well that works.. say i find my wallet.dat.. i wouldnt mind spending money to recover it
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:44 PM UTC · #3205
its like that guy who bought the pizza for 40000 bitcoins
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:44 PM UTC · #3206
that guy right now could own islands
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:45 PM UTC · #3208
if i remember correctly i had 2500 coins before i left.. Mined on a massive rig with 400mbit.. for about 4 years, maybe a bit more
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:45 PM UTC · #3209
no idea what I could have mined by that.. but its the 2500 coins i want
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:46 PM UTC · #3210
i have often wondered why the people who came up with bitcoin came up with no way to retreieve lost money
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:47 PM UTC · #3211
or if someone dies potentially the money dies with them
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:47 PM UTC · #3212
guess it’s kinda what they wanted right.. that coins will disappear step by step, increase the value.. make them rarer and rarer
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:47 PM UTC · #3213
that was built into the design true
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:48 PM UTC · #3214
but like orphaned payments... there should be a way to get them back
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:48 PM UTC · #3215
i have quite a few Quark coins.. they are similar to bitcoin but higher encryption and has new coins coming in to make up for those lost
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:48 PM UTC · #3216
yeah, there should.. but that would make it more traceable i guess and that defeats the purpose i guess..
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:48 PM UTC · #3217
but considering I’ve personally lost SHIT LOADS of money on both btc and eth.. i wish there was a way to get it back
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:49 PM UTC · #3218
well.. the eth is bye bye birdie
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:49 PM UTC · #3219
someone else now... but the BTC on the other hand
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:49 PM UTC · #3221
you wouldnt have to pay up front for the pros to help you
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:49 PM UTC · #3222
man i think you could get them to help you on contingency
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:50 PM UTC · #3226
maybe maybe.. worth a try i guess...
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:50 PM UTC · #3227
I dont know much about the phillipines but this might be something worth coming to the states for or europe... finding a good data center
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:50 PM UTC · #3229
what i’m worried about is that I might have mined on a pool.. and therefore its not saved anywhere say the pool closed down.. but the 2500 coins should be here in the wallet
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:51 PM UTC · #3230
Well, the hard drives are in Norway.. going back there for vacation finally.. so i’ll get a chance to check it out
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:51 PM UTC · #3231
quite a few good companies there that should be able to help me out if i fail
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:51 PM UTC · #3233
tell them whats up, the value of the data
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:51 PM UTC · #3234
i bet you one of them will be hungry enough to do it for no upfront and a stake in the take
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:52 PM UTC · #3235
yeah, but 10%... thats 500k usd
not sure i’d want to pay that much for it without even trying to recover it myself first
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:53 PM UTC · #3237
meaning if they cant find it... they get nothing
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:53 PM UTC · #3238
normally the value they extract is not worth that much
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:53 PM UTC · #3239
could be sentimental etc.
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:53 PM UTC · #3240
that shit is straight currency
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:53 PM UTC · #3241
like dubloons on the floor
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:54 PM UTC · #3242
Time will tell.. July will either be a good vacation, or be a life changing moment
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:55 PM UTC · #3243
man thats eerie... you might get on the news for that
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:55 PM UTC · #3244
if the data centers and recovery experts wont do it on contingency i bet you could find an investor willing to put up the bread
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:55 PM UTC · #3245
he’d probably want more than 10%
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:56 PM UTC · #3246
haha, i wouldnt ever share it.. only family would know.. don’t think it would be very fun if it got out that I suddenly have 5 mill dollars on hand
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:57 PM UTC · #3248
I would probably sell it off bit by bit, stored on different wallets.. get it converted to cash asap
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:57 PM UTC · #3250
gotta get it first though thats the thing
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:57 PM UTC · #3251
be careful doing it yourself
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:57 PM UTC · #3252
i would make a byte for byte copy of it as is first
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:57 PM UTC · #3253
Yepp! no point making plans unless i can find it, but its hard to not dream a little
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:57 PM UTC · #3254
i strongly strongly advocate taking it to a professional
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 08:58 PM UTC · #3255
skip the pro as long as nothing new was written to the drive its 100% recoverable
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:59 PM UTC · #3256
Yeah, hard drive has never been used at all since then.. not even connected to a machine.
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 08:59 PM UTC · #3257
formatting foesnt write 0's it just marks the sectors as overwritable
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 08:59 PM UTC · #3258
if it was a quick format, you are correct in that, but if it was a full format
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 08:59 PM UTC · #3259
therefore any good recovery software will fully recover the drive
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 08:59 PM UTC · #3260
a full format takes hours i doubt that was dne
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 08:59 PM UTC · #3261
yea was just a quick format
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 09:00 PM UTC · #3262
your odds are very favorable
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 09:00 PM UTC · #3263
unless the drive itself has rotted in the meantime
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 09:00 PM UTC · #3264
there is a time and a place for a pro, especially if there are any kind of failures on the disk
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 09:00 PM UTC · #3265
once recovered i highly recomment coinomi wallet decentralized and recoverale using BIP44 passphrase
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 09:01 PM UTC · #3266
yea, i’d use multiple wallets to split it up.. then sell it off
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 09:01 PM UTC · #3267
so if you lose your phone or switch phones you just need your backup passphrase. has been wonderful for me
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 09:01 PM UTC · #3268
you can create multiple wallets for one currency inside it if u wish
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 09:02 PM UTC · #3269
yeah, but i wouldnt risk having everything on just one wallet system.. i’d use multiple just in case..
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 09:03 PM UTC · #3270
just keep us in mind when you recover
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 09:04 PM UTC · #3271
Hahaha, i’ll be sure to let people here know... but to be honest, i have given up... there is a tiny drop of hope left.. but i wont let it consume me.. can’t have more sleepless nights
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 09:04 PM UTC · #3272
i missed if nhminer person got it working after
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 09:06 PM UTC · #3273
instead of recovering the entire drive , to minimize errors you can have it look for a specific file/folder and only recover that
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 09:06 PM UTC · #3274
like the dat files from the wallet software for example
tmopar · Mon May 22, 2017 09:07 PM UTC · #3275
yeah, that getdatabacksimple program i was telling you about is actually very good at that particular operation, i strongly recomend trying it... i used it personally on some customer hard drives in the past
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 09:09 PM UTC · #3276
i was the nhminer guy haha, never did lol
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 09:12 PM UTC · #3280
nheqminer -eu prohashing.com:3333 -u kirbyfez -p "n=rig1 a=scrypt" not auth
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 09:12 PM UTC · #3281
-l doesnt work either.. then something about the block.. whatever error i wrote before
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 09:20 PM UTC · #3282
any reason why your using nheqminer
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 09:22 PM UTC · #3286
i use minerd-multi for CPU and sgminer for gpu
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 09:23 PM UTC · #3287
minerd-multi easy to setup for windows?
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 09:23 PM UTC · #3288
its commant line with a config file
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 09:23 PM UTC · #3290
got a legit working download link for me and i’ll give it a go
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 09:23 PM UTC · #3291
it supports like 20 or more algos
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 09:25 PM UTC · #3292
github[dot]com/tpruvot/cpuminer-multi/releases/download/v1.3-multi/cpuminer-multi-rel1.3.zip
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 09:26 PM UTC · #3293
what do i put in the start file for just simple CPU mining?
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 09:33 PM UTC · #3295
https://pastebin[dot]com/ZUtBw3FK
Kirbyfez · Mon May 22, 2017 09:35 PM UTC · #3297
Hmm, json file.. i extracted the stuff.. got a few exe files, a bat file and some api stuff
GregoryGHarding · Mon May 22, 2017 09:35 PM UTC · #3298
we're looking at different versions lol
