Sorry if this was asked around here already... Are the profitability decreased? I mean, I would get around much better payout after a day than now. Now it’s like half of it. What happend?

The prices of coins crashed by 50%, so that’s expected. However, ethash profitability has not fallen as much because there were insane transaction fees yesterday.

More precisely, the CPU does a buttload of frontend work to create the plots. Then after that its a quick check of that stored data for each share. The more storage space you have, the higher chance you have of winning. They are working on a Pool version, but it hasn’t been released yet.

I agree, and am probably wrong, but everything I am reading about Chia right now is even though it might use less electricity you are using much more electronics to be profitable (Hard drives) which if you scale up to profitability end up using a lot of elextricity anyways. Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea as I have a ton of HD space but as a casual miner my 8 HDs aren’t even enough to make a decent profit.
There is 2 parts of it. The plotting is the SDD intensive and processor intensive process. Once the plots are stored the HDD will last as long as HDD normally last. Because people want to plot faster they use SSDs that have limited writes, and the plotting process is very write intensive, so you burn through the SSDs during plotting.

Yeah I was reading about that too and that seems to be where the hardcore plotters are going, SDD which does give them an advantage as they throw more tickets into the lottery that way. I mean, I won’t knock it if I can do it as a pool since if it brings anything like 50 dollars extra a month as a pool, I’ll gladly try it on my non SSD drives.
I have an easy 5TB available to me now. I have old NAS drives that are just sitting in the corner after I upgraded my NAS storage. So I can have about 150 plots. Its just the time that it will take to build up to having the plots made that will take awhile.

I’m looking on https://chiacalculator.com/ and right now 15 TiB is calculated 6 months to win a coin. Yikes, but would still gladly welcome a pool version.
Yes, that’s the thing, the speed in which folks are getting into it is making it nearly impossible to get anywhere farming for it alone now. And for those that just want to farm, it looks like folks are selling plotting as well and you just download the plots to your storage drive.
yeah I am downloading plots (they are cheap to buy) nut the file is huge. And the Chia calculator is at best a guess it hasn’t changed since I started researching it despite the amount of plots increasing overall so I wouldn’t trust it. The reward for winning though is worth it if I read right. If I understand it right you get 2 coins per victory and even with Chia being down it is over $800 a coin
Alynn a quick question about your post, what does --pers auto stand for? I don’t have that command but eth is working fine so far. Do i gain something from adding it?
Chia will only work if you stay with it long term. There is no way solo farming is going to be profitable in the near term as it is already getting too crowded. Other coins will be needed to lure others away (or you will have to beat the odds) I also am not sure I trust the idea of a Chia pool it just doesn’t seem feasible to me
Yesterday whenever i connect to Prohashing with miner, my pc restart. I thought it would be on my PSU or GPU but it is not. But on today, after almost 24 hours, i try again and it’s working again without restarting pc. Is there any chance you guys know what happens? Windows has 20H update last night tho
