so here...a patch to slow it down to normal running mode instead of the SUPER turbo we sold to you
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:11 AM UTC · #76655
well i haven’t noticed much.. my fastest cpu, a core i7 3770 gets hiccups sometimes, probably something to do with whatever i’m doing though, and i just don’t understand it. i don’t have any really new processors
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:12 AM UTC · #76656
first gen core i5 750, xeon 3450. got a pentium 4 sitting there collecting dust
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:14 AM UTC · #76657
so like 4 computers running various mining hardware
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:15 AM UTC · #76658
does about what i expected for the age of the hardware. only think left to be expected is more power efficiency
AppleMiner · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:16 AM UTC · #76659
i turned off the cpu GPU rigs when i got my first asic in
AppleMiner · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:16 AM UTC · #76660
was 300X more profitable than the GPU setup so i scrapped it and sold that rig
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:18 AM UTC · #76661
i just keep it running and sell cryptos when i need money.. good miner bad trader. if i would’ve kept everything i mined i might have a L3+ by now
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:19 AM UTC · #76662
but i took the bits and pieces and bought small miners.. expecting 4 more small miners by the end of the month
AppleMiner · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:19 AM UTC · #76663
if I kept everything I mined...Id have a small island to run my farm on right now.
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:20 AM UTC · #76664
lol.. reminds me of where my grandparents used to live, there was a lake and an island with one house and he had like a hovercraft or something
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:20 AM UTC · #76665
must’ve been badass in the winter
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:23 AM UTC · #76666
not sure how you get power on an island though.. maybe underwater cables?
AppleMiner · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:24 AM UTC · #76668
or just solar and go tropical island
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:28 AM UTC · #76669
oh yea renewable. wind, solar and pedal power. not much tidal action on freshwater lakes
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:29 AM UTC · #76670
i was just trying to think how they did it back in the day. i don’t think they had much of that pre 80s
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:30 AM UTC · #76671
i’m not even living on an island and my home has some old ass technology. i have old screw type fuses
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:31 AM UTC · #76672
it would be kinda cool to use thermal to generate power. i think it’s called a thermocouple or something, uses the difference between hot and cold sources to generate voltage.. not sure if there’s much power in it though
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:32 AM UTC · #76673
it’s cold as shit here and i could run a wood stove or something
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:36 AM UTC · #76674
not quite the same as geothermal, that’s used for HVAC stuff
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:43 AM UTC · #76676
even thought they apparently use geothermal for power in iceland for some mining operations
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:44 AM UTC · #76677
i’d like to take a look at their hardware for generating the power
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:53 AM UTC · #76678
i think geothermal is usually like pipes holding liquid under the ground and it pumps that heat up. but in iceland they have like volcanos or natural springs
FastCashMining · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:56 AM UTC · #76680
yea that tri-card miner looks good
FastCashMining · Fri Jan 12, 2018 01:56 AM UTC · #76681
i just pay a few homeless guys to ride bikes i have connected to dynamos
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:16 AM UTC · #76684
yea i have often thought i could just ride an excercize bike to make the power for miners.. you just need like an inverter, battery bank and charging system. and pedal at a fairly regular rate
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:16 AM UTC · #76685
i’m sure homeless guys would pedal for hourse for a few dollars
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:17 AM UTC · #76686
hell they beg change off me for nothing on the street. if i could give them something real to do? shieet
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:18 AM UTC · #76687
and just hope they don’t steal my hardware when i’m not looking
FastCashMining · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:18 AM UTC · #76689
i think im gonna get these 3 1050 tis
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:19 AM UTC · #76691
yea they look like good for the price. i have a couple gtx 960 and a 750
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:20 AM UTC · #76692
makes a few bucks a day
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:21 AM UTC · #76694
my radeon 6950 are decommissioned unless i can find somehwere to plug them in
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:21 AM UTC · #76695
i don’t count power costs ever
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:22 AM UTC · #76698
the red hurst my eyes and i’m probably losing money, but i have to pay the power bill for my home anyway, so it’s hard to tell how much it really costs. might be able to make some kind of estimate
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:23 AM UTC · #76699
power bill is cryptic. nowhere does it say exact cents per kilowatt hour
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:24 AM UTC · #76700
all kinds of taxes, state and city fees and things
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:25 AM UTC · #76704
anyways, power was like between 100 and 200, i probably pay like an extra hundred a month now.. last one was like 265 bucks
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:26 AM UTC · #76705
i just think of my big scrypt miners as preheaters, preheating the air in the basement, not much profit but it all depends on what happens with market value when i go to sell the cryptos
FastCashMining · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:26 AM UTC · #76706
yea exactly nothing matters until you sell
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:27 AM UTC · #76707
i’ve been doing 90% ltc 10% doge
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:27 AM UTC · #76708
ltc for selling, doge for market trading
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:28 AM UTC · #76709
and doge blew up pretty big
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:31 AM UTC · #76710
i think i have excel energy here, i have a neighbor i know used to work for the power company
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:31 AM UTC · #76711
used to be called something else a few years ago
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:34 AM UTC · #76713
they said i consume more power than all my neighbors. lol
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:35 AM UTC · #76715
my home leaks like a sieve. central air heater running like all the time when it’s 5 below
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:36 AM UTC · #76718
life in minnesota, i’d try in antarctica if they would let me
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:37 AM UTC · #76719
it’d be like practice for life on another planet
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:38 AM UTC · #76721
but i won’t go to mars, unless i had my own ship
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:39 AM UTC · #76722
maybe one of the moons
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:40 AM UTC · #76723
if they sent me to mars they would just be like cya bye and leave my ass there
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:41 AM UTC · #76724
hope they leave some seeds or something
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:43 AM UTC · #76726
fuck potatoes and corn. i’d grow some weed
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:52 AM UTC · #76730
it’s probably something simple
FastCashMining · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:52 AM UTC · #76731
i hope these cards can hash some shit
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:53 AM UTC · #76732
but i have no clue about bitmain hardware
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:55 AM UTC · #76733
yea i’d guess you could make at least a couple dollars a day each 1050ti my gtx 960s get just over 2 dollars a day each on nicehash
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:55 AM UTC · #76734
what kind of controller does d3 use? beaglebone black?
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:56 AM UTC · #76737
well nicehash pays bitcoin. but i’ve also tried minergate and mine some decent xmr
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:57 AM UTC · #76738
but nicehash says a USD value too, not sure where they get it
FastCashMining · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:59 AM UTC · #76739
maybe should just sell my d3 and take any profit and apply to gpu
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 02:59 AM UTC · #76740
also spent some time mining btg and etc to get some stored up if it blows up
FastCashMining · Fri Jan 12, 2018 03:00 AM UTC · #76741
1080 for 599.99 think thats a little rich
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 03:01 AM UTC · #76742
yea it’s too much money for me. not sure what it actually costs but i can’t imagine it costs that much to build. i would know if i could get a real job in electronics manufacturing
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 03:02 AM UTC · #76744
11GB memory sounds pretty sweet, i wonder how it works on scrypt
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 03:04 AM UTC · #76745
probably nothing as good as even a small asic, but scrypt being memory intensive it would be leaps and bounds above the old cards with small ram even amd
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 03:05 AM UTC · #76746
that’s where most of the money goes for manufacturing probably, all the memory
DougWa · Fri Jan 12, 2018 03:21 AM UTC · #76747
Hello spauk and mcrutche, I just registered and read a few posts in the Forum... I think I’m in the wrong pool for mining with only a single GTX980? Any advice for a GREEN NOOB?
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 03:22 AM UTC · #76749
yea scrypt and x11 are mostly for asics
DougWa · Fri Jan 12, 2018 03:23 AM UTC · #76751
Right, I gathered as much. Just wanted to heat my house while minting a couple Dodecoins or similar. I suppose I should ask in r/dogecoin...
spauk · Fri Jan 12, 2018 03:24 AM UTC · #76753
yea profitabilty here for gpus is not good. sometimes i even feel like they are trying to phase out my old small asics by increasing the starting difficulty
