so why make this complication for such a small outcome
Steve Sokolowski · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:27 PM UTC · #30517
the first rule of bugs is don’t change anything that works
Steve Sokolowski · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:27 PM UTC · #30519
I need to stop talking so I can get back to work
Steve Sokolowski · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:27 PM UTC · #30521
will come back later after I’ve validated numbers
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:28 PM UTC · #30522
just because it has not fucked up yet it does not mean it won’t
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:28 PM UTC · #30525
this is the problem with IT guys doing real world software
Steve Sokolowski · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:28 PM UTC · #30526
Chris will deal with the investigation into the missing shares when he gets to the support tickets
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:29 PM UTC · #30527
I write mission critical safety systems software and when it has to work with no eexceptions allowed you take a whole different approach
hashingpro · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:29 PM UTC · #30528
sorry losing 25% of my daily hash has me a bit worried no?
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:29 PM UTC · #30529
there is no, can you just send that email again in real time control systems
Steve Sokolowski · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:30 PM UTC · #30531
I understand what you’re saying, and I fully agree, but we’re doing what can be done with limited time
Steve Sokolowski · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:30 PM UTC · #30532
I can’t do more than 25 hours on this project - need to sleep sometime
Steve Sokolowski · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:30 PM UTC · #30533
fortunately, this is not a safety-critical system
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:30 PM UTC · #30534
I also understand that, but despite the tone of my comments I am both putting a view forwards and trying to make constructive criticism
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:31 PM UTC · #30535
yes and is not safety critical, but once a block has been accepted by concensus there is no goign back, so there are some paralells here
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:32 PM UTC · #30536
and for some people the losses are very real and important to them
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:32 PM UTC · #30537
I do this as a hobby, for some people it is life
Steve Sokolowski · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:34 PM UTC · #30539
I’d love to provide better service, but we can’t go faster than the lawyer
Steve Sokolowski · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:34 PM UTC · #30540
we know what the problems are and how to fix them, it’s just time
mironbot · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:36 PM UTC · #30541
@Steve Sokolowski : restart please )
mironbot · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:37 PM UTC · #30543
@Steve Sokolowski : problems appeared after the last restart4 hours ago
hashingpro · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:38 PM UTC · #30545
good problems bad problems?
mironbot · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:39 PM UTC · #30546
@Steve Sokolowski : problems that everyone here were speacking about for the last 2-3 hours
Steve Sokolowski · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:39 PM UTC · #30547
there’s lots of problems, which ones are you talking about?
mironbot · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:39 PM UTC · #30549
@hashingpro : hat good problems are look like? )))
mironbot · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:40 PM UTC · #30550
@Steve Sokolowski : problems with solo mining, i guess
hashingpro · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:40 PM UTC · #30551
good problem...I have to pay $50,000 in taxes. God ecause I earned that much income that I have to pay that much 8)
mironbot · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:41 PM UTC · #30552
@hashingpro : it’s not a problem though ))
hashingpro · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:41 PM UTC · #30553
Wish you all had that same problem.
hashingpro · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:43 PM UTC · #30557
but back to the issue what problems with solo ming?

this is like water world on the exxon valdez when the decon asks what the problem is and the long haired guy answers " we out-growed it"....
Steve Sokolowski · Sat Sep 23, 2017 10:57 PM UTC · #30562
hmmm, I think I came across something interesting, where there might be half-open connections left

bluelemonadecrypto wrote: Steve Sokolowski wrote: I’d love to provide better service, but we can’t go faster than the lawyer what is the problem the lawyer needs to solve? there’s no particular problem, we just need an evaluation to see whether any legal requirements would make the business unprofitable
Steve Sokolowski · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:07 PM UTC · #30565
there are some concerns, but talking about them would cause them to become unprotected
Steve Sokolowski · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:08 PM UTC · #30567
anything disclosed loses privilege
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:08 PM UTC · #30568
other pools base their servers in a certain country, I presume to avoid certain legalities
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:10 PM UTC · #30569
and Estonia is open to digital citizenship for company ownership for tech companies, especially blockchain ones
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:10 PM UTC · #30572
yes and company taxes in Estonia are low
hashingpro · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:10 PM UTC · #30573
other pools dont pay taxes so they can run with less profit
hashingpro · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:10 PM UTC · #30574
Steve and Chris expect to continue to live in the USA for a few more years
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:11 PM UTC · #30575
but for me in Oz such an arrangement still requires payment of personal taxes to ATO anytime I actually draw any money into the country to spend
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:11 PM UTC · #30576
you do not need to live in Estonia to be a digital citizen there
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:11 PM UTC · #30577
in fact digital citizenship gives you no right of entry
dog1965 · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:11 PM UTC · #30578
you have to pay tax on your crypto profit hugh ?
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:12 PM UTC · #30580
but you can start a company and use their banking and tax system for the company
hashingpro · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:12 PM UTC · #30581
yeah capital gains at the very least
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:12 PM UTC · #30582
but in Oz we have a deal that if you hold an asset for 12 months you get a 50% disocunt on tax
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:13 PM UTC · #30583
so if you earn nothing else for the year you can take 50k of capital gains and pay $1224 tax and be squeeky clean
dog1965 · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:13 PM UTC · #30585
if you tax a shit in your bathroom you have to pay tax.
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:14 PM UTC · #30587
so for me this is why crypto is so profitable, because as long as I work I am in the 50% tax bracket, if I mine and don’t spend the coins until I don’t work for a year each dollar I mine is worth 2 to me
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:15 PM UTC · #30591
don’t need to bother, my crypto mining is in joint name with wife, no tax until turned to fiat
dog1965 · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:15 PM UTC · #30592
ah thats were they get you.
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:15 PM UTC · #30593
so if we wait until a year off, we can cash out cryptos of 100k cash and pay 2.5k tax and all legit
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:16 PM UTC · #30594
pretty attractive when you look at it that way
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:16 PM UTC · #30595
if we wanted to avoid that even, there are ways, but I feel just pay the tax and sleep easy at night
dog1965 · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:17 PM UTC · #30596
they will tax you for the gree air you breath mf!!!
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:18 PM UTC · #30598
yes but there are legitimate and ethical ways to do things to minimise the tax you pay, but some of them require you not to take instant profit
dog1965 · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:18 PM UTC · #30599
they make enough taxes on everybody I wouldn’t I would hide it.
dog1965 · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:19 PM UTC · #30600
you earned that money they didnt
dog1965 · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:21 PM UTC · #30602
I see your point though. but sometimes you have to be unethical to survive.
hashingpro · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:24 PM UTC · #30603
dog thats really ez to do when you only make 3K a year in your paypal mining.
hashingpro · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:25 PM UTC · #30604
Try pulling in over 20K and see if IRS doesnt come knocking looking for a share
hashingpro · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:25 PM UTC · #30606
besides somewhere over the rainbow?
hashingpro · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:27 PM UTC · #30607
im jealous of waiting a year and only paying 2.5%.
hashingpro · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:27 PM UTC · #30608
waiting a year in the US drops it from 33 to 15%
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:29 PM UTC · #30610
we don’t wait a year to pay 2.5%, we wait a year to half the amount taxed, then it gets taxed at our "marginal rate"
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:29 PM UTC · #30611
we have sliding scale, so first 20k is tax free
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:29 PM UTC · #30612
going up to basically 50 cents in the dollar at 180k a year
bluelemonadecrypto · Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:30 PM UTC · #30613
so at 250k a year you pay almost exactly 100k a year income tax
