unless 2 coins have the same profit/payout which I guess could happen depending on the decimal points and how fast they change.
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:03 PM UTC · #25397
So prohashing averages the profits from all the coins it is mining an splits the profit even if you don’t actually get assigned the most profitable coin?
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:04 PM UTC · #25399
this hour you may get the best coin and I get 2nd best
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:04 PM UTC · #25400
Ahh. Ok thats what I wanted to know.
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:04 PM UTC · #25401
net hour I may be on the best and you on 3rd best
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:04 PM UTC · #25402
but over the corse of the day, both of us will have close to what the expected 1MH daily payment says we should have
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:04 PM UTC · #25403
Makes sense, so if you can set static coin to the most profitable one, you make more?
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:05 PM UTC · #25405
if you can find the best coin to mine and stay there all day you can max your profits
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:05 PM UTC · #25406
Ok. Cool. I think I might work on a way to do that.
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:05 PM UTC · #25407
Although I heard he is limiting static coin assignment too
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:06 PM UTC · #25408
but if you stay there all day, good chance it will only go up while others move down and get lower and overtake it as best to mine for now...
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:07 PM UTC · #25412
so going to axe solo mining?
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:07 PM UTC · #25413
seems like shooting your profits in the foot
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:07 PM UTC · #25415
yeah i havent caught up on the past 12 hours of message forums yet
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:07 PM UTC · #25416
Maybe I’m not interpreting that correctly. Maybe only limiting dynamic
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:09 PM UTC · #25417
It sound like he is going to limit both static and dynamic now though
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:09 PM UTC · #25418
Not sure on solo. That probably falls under static.
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:10 PM UTC · #25419
Do you happen to know if he runs off the shelf daemons for each coin or if he has a custom p2p solution?
Brandonloves2fly · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:12 PM UTC · #25420
with profits so low, now may be a good time to experiment with static coin assignment. Any coin recommendations?
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:14 PM UTC · #25421
Its difficult to choose only one because it changes so much. The econ data on the front page isn’t loading for me at the moment, but that would normally be a good place to see what’s good at the time. Its probably a good idea to keep on it and change it frequently.
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:15 PM UTC · #25422
I haven’t actually experimented with it yet though.
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:17 PM UTC · #25423
and thats why the auto switching pool was born
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:17 PM UTC · #25424
let the pool pick the best coin at the time to mine
Brandonloves2fly · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:18 PM UTC · #25425
as long as it’s averaging .07 per hash vs .035 to .05 that we are currently getting, I’m a happy camper!
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:18 PM UTC · #25427
Id not expect to see over .05 again tbh
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:19 PM UTC · #25428
if its at .02 or .01 by end of the year dont be shocked
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:19 PM UTC · #25429
I need to start short selling crypto when I buy a miner. Its a sure sign the market is going to crash.
Brandonloves2fly · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:20 PM UTC · #25430
It would be nice to have a dynamic auto switch for 5 to 10 coins of our choice instead of all or single coin static.
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:20 PM UTC · #25431
you and everyone else with orders in not being delivered until november
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:21 PM UTC · #25432
It would be nice if this pool would direct hash to nicehash when it’s paying better than the current coins.
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:21 PM UTC · #25433
I suppose you have to worry about loops then though.
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:23 PM UTC · #25434
Prohash points to NiceHash points to Prohash points to NiceHash... ect.
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:25 PM UTC · #25435
why would mcdonals send you to burger king just cause they are out of food for you to eat?
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:26 PM UTC · #25436
They would still get 5% of a larger number though...
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:26 PM UTC · #25437
you know they would stick you with the fish you didnt order at the drive through.
Skarda · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:26 PM UTC · #25438
More info on the a4+. Looks like it could end up being closer to $3000 (see link)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1251930.320 hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:26 PM UTC · #25439
@gestalt but why would you pay 10% the 5% from each pool, instead of just jumping on that pool and saving 5%?
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:28 PM UTC · #25440
Good point, but prohash has uptodate profitability info that is hard to get otherwise and can switch quickly. That is hard to replicate.
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:28 PM UTC · #25441
@skarda if you already paid for one they you have to pay more to get this one. If you didnt preorder the old one they you have to pay this ones full price.
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:28 PM UTC · #25442
up to date profitibility....nope
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:29 PM UTC · #25444
that live profitibility is about worthless
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:30 PM UTC · #25446
unless they had a running total of what my payout is for this 24 hours, or what it was the past 24 hours starting now...then the up to date profits are just flashy numbers with no values
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:31 PM UTC · #25448
Internally, I think they have better data though. They should be able to get difficulty number from each node they are running with low lag.
Skarda · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:31 PM UTC · #25449
I was only thinking of odering the a4+. I actually have 10 L3s in the bitmain cue waiting for a wire transfer, and was deciding if i wanted to go through with it or get the a4, but based on that discussion, I think I’ll stay with my L3 order
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:31 PM UTC · #25450
L3+ seems like the better value
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:31 PM UTC · #25451
when you look at it now, you see 8.0 and think WOW im going to be making 8 cents per MH. but what you arent seeing is the 5 hours at night when it was only .1 while you were sleeping, or .005 the other 4 hours you were not looking.
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:32 PM UTC · #25453
so unless that 8.0 bar was a running totoal of the expected 1MH for the day, its just a flashy pretty number
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:33 PM UTC · #25454
what the live value is for right now, has no impact on anythign except as part of the average over the day/past 24 hour period
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:34 PM UTC · #25455
if they kept running total of auto switching payout for the day
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:34 PM UTC · #25456
and could divide by the hashing power they had on auto switching for that same time period. they could display a running total
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:35 PM UTC · #25457
of expected payout per MH then people could compare NH and PH at times to see which pays better.
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:36 PM UTC · #25458
must be a lower priority to calculate the 1MH expected payouts, the total miner earnings pop up at midnight
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:36 PM UTC · #25459
the 1MH expected dont show before 4 am normally
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:37 PM UTC · #25461
I wrote a program that compares NH, PH, and ZP over time based on the profitability number each reports. Lots of peaks on all, but NH seems to be a little more stable than PH and ZP and not dip as much. Doesnt have as high of peaks though either. It would just be nice to truncate the dips if they could point the hashing power to NH when those occur.
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:38 PM UTC · #25462
so how do you compare them? at 5PM?
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:39 PM UTC · #25464
NH if I click on the sell my hash has diff numbers at diff times of the day
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:39 PM UTC · #25465
PH has 1MH expected payouts 1 time per day
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:39 PM UTC · #25466
and you cant go by the live profits on the chart
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:39 PM UTC · #25467
for PH they change from 5 to .1 over 30 secs
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:39 PM UTC · #25468
The API data updates quickly
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:40 PM UTC · #25469
ahh it compares the data, cant really act on any of it
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:40 PM UTC · #25470
cant switch miners based on that info
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:40 PM UTC · #25471
You can, its just difficult.
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:41 PM UTC · #25472
And you might lose more switching than you gain
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:41 PM UTC · #25473
i think every 30 secs you would be pool hopping back and forth and never get any hash to go through
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:42 PM UTC · #25475
Thats essentially what PH does though. Just not with pools
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:42 PM UTC · #25476
manually change pools 1 and 2 on a L3+ and click apply, tell me how long to connect on the new pool and start hashing up at 500
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:42 PM UTC · #25478
But you can switch much faster using other methods. Probably 1 sec
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:42 PM UTC · #25479
so if you pool hop every other check....no hashing ever
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:43 PM UTC · #25481
Look at the restart delay stat on your coins. Thats how fast it can really change if you can do it right.
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:44 PM UTC · #25482
it still has to handshake, authenticate, get the data to begin and get up to speed
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:44 PM UTC · #25483
within the same pool I agree
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:44 PM UTC · #25484
starting a new connection to a new site that doesnt know you from adam...i give it 1 minute to start
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:44 PM UTC · #25485
You could keep an open connection to multiple pools and redirect the hash as appropriate.
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:45 PM UTC · #25486
Not easy, but not impossible.
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:46 PM UTC · #25489
I think the delay in the profitability data might ruin it though.
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:47 PM UTC · #25490
But prohashing could use their internal data to do it with low lag I think.
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:48 PM UTC · #25491
I dont think a good business model is using or stealing or sharing with the competition as a way to increase your profits
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:49 PM UTC · #25492
its to make your product so much better that they are trying to do that from you.
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:49 PM UTC · #25493
Yeah, but they would have to add hash power market place to do what NH does
gestalt · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:50 PM UTC · #25494
That would probably be a distraction from what they offer
hashingpro · Fri Sep 15, 2017 06:50 PM UTC · #25495
IF you had more than 3 machines, point 1 at NH, point 1 at PH, point the rest at URL X.
