AppleMiner wrote: you never got it, so you havent ’earned it’ until you do and arent tax liable until you do
Only if YOU do not control when you get it. In this case, I do not control my payment.

AppleMiner · · #77867

im just going from what the IRS said, once you control the coins in your possesion

AppleMiner · · #77868

as long as they are on the pools wallet

deepenough · · #77869

not that thats a good idea or whatever just trying to learn.

AppleMiner · · #77870

and I cannot send them to another place from there, then I do NOT have control and cannot be taxed yet

3Moose · · #77871

AppleMiner wrote: im just going from what the IRS said, once you control the coins in your possesion
The IRS has only said it taxable once its mined. I have posted that.

AppleMiner · · #77872

no deep

AppleMiner · · #77873

solo only pays out in the coin you are soloing

AppleMiner · · #77874

you canoot set a coin of choice payout while solo mining.

deepenough · · #77875

solo mine means i’m being paid in that coin then.

Posession is matter of accounting rules around control.

deepenough · · #77877

got it. thank you so much

AppleMiner · · #77878

you can its just ignored unless you are autopool mining, THEN you can choose a different coin payout

AppleMiner · · #77879

The IRS has only said it taxable once its mined. I have posted that. you would have to show me that then

AppleMiner · · #77880

that as soon as its mined its due, and not once you take controll.

3Moose · · #77881

AppleMiner wrote: The IRS has only said it taxable once its mined. I have posted that. you would have to show me that then
ok... give me a second...

AppleMiner · · #77882

The IRS has only said it taxable once its mined.--but in order to something to be MINED, somethign has to be in possesion to have BEEN MINED. IE coins, gold bullion, $$$$$, crypto?

3Moose · · #77883

3Moose · · #77884

Q8

AppleMiner · · #77885

Yes, when a taxpayer successfully “mines” virtual currency, the fair market value of the virtual currency as of the date of receipt is includible in gross income

AppleMiner · · #77886

have you received it yet?

AppleMiner · · #77887

then NO

AppleMiner · · #77888

not until you take possesion in your accounting wallet

3Moose · · #77889

AppleMiner wrote: The IRS has only said it taxable once its mined.--but in order to something to be MINED, somethign has to be in possesion to have BEEN MINED. IE coins, gold bullion, $$$$$, crypto?
Is it your positon, you can mine all your coins in an external wallet, and never take possession and avoid taxes as a miner?

AppleMiner · · #77890

if its an external wallet, dont you have controll over it?

3Moose · · #77891

AppleMiner wrote: if its an external wallet, dont you have controll over it?
You do.

AppleMiner · · #77892

they you have possesion

AppleMiner · · #77893

if you mine all your coins into nicehash

AppleMiner · · #77894

and have never taken a payout

AppleMiner · · #77895

how many coins have you received this year?

3Moose · · #77896

AppleMiner wrote: they you have possesion
I am not sure what we are discussing then.. lol

AppleMiner · · #77897

after the 64 million $ went mission

AppleMiner · · #77898

how many coins have you gotten from NH if you didnt take any payouts all year, and after the theft they never paid you>?

AppleMiner · · #77899

your point, correct? is you owe at the time it was made, wether you have them or not right?

AppleMiner · · #77900

my point is....

3Moose · · #77901

AppleMiner wrote: how many coins have you gotten from NH if you didnt take any payouts all year, and after the theft they never paid you>?
If you kept 100% of your coins in NH ... you would have to pay the taxes.

Forum notification · · #77902

has started a new topic: L3+ best settings

3Moose · · #77903

Hiding coins in your NH wallet does not magically stop the taxes.

AppleMiner · · #77904

nope it does not.

3Moose · · #77905

If you keep the money in YOUR HH wallet... you have a taxable event. I promise you.

AppleMiner · · #77906

but since I havent earned any coins this year

AppleMiner · · #77907

what do I get to write on the magicall 1099 i dont think we need, I mined 0 coins.

AppleMiner · · #77908

if I can sent the coins to another person to pay for items I have received the coins.

3Moose · · #77909

Ok. I think you will be sad when the IRS disagrees with you.

AppleMiner · · #77910

I have a value product I control I can use for payments if acceptable

AppleMiner · · #77911

ok I dont think Ill care

AppleMiner · · #77912

cause IM NOT MINING ANYMORE

AppleMiner · · #77913

im collecting a salary

AppleMiner · · #77914

so the whole issue is soo moot for me I care NOT.

3Moose · · #77915

Ok.

AppleMiner · · #77916

so pay your minable tax, your capital gains, your income and all the stuff in between, Ill pay my income tax as an independant contractor and call it a day, cuase the taxes on crypto are more headache than its worth

AppleMiner · · #77917

and betting half the people who need to file wont even bother

3Moose · · #77918

Anyway - Back to the issuse at hand.... STeve... can you look at my ticket before Verge hits .01 cents :)

AppleMiner · · #77919

because they are not making it easy enough to do for the smaller people who are just dabbling

AppleMiner · · #77920

steve wont read the chat

AppleMiner · · #77921

steve wont read the emails

AppleMiner · · #77922

you really have to put in a ticket it is the only way

3Moose · · #77923

I thought you had like 15 machines>?

AppleMiner · · #77924

30

AppleMiner · · #77925

+

3Moose · · #77926

I did a ticket about 25 hours ago

3Moose · · #77927

so 30 L3,s or about 200K a year, is dabbling?

AppleMiner · · #77928

im not a dabbler

3Moose · · #77929

Man... I hope I get your IRS agent!

AppleMiner · · #77930

but im one of the people who files

3Moose · · #77931

Alright... its the wild wild west. I guess time will tell how they (the IRS) want to treat this stuff.

AppleMiner · · #77932

maybe not, after all the hassle he goes through with me, he looks at you and heads cryptoo he may just off himself.

3Moose · · #77933

I’m about to go XXX untis deep!

travelinmusic · · #77934

litecoin at $162. ... what a suckout

travelinmusic · · #77935

next stop $80, then $40

travelinmusic · · #77936

So much for the 1099 forms. no longer applicable.

Steve Sokolowski · · #77937

3Moose wrote: Anyway - Back to the issuse at hand.... STeve... can you look at my ticket before Verge hits .01 cents :)
Verge is issuing a hard fork and therefore we can’t issue any payouts

Steve Sokolowski · · #77938

the daemon needs to reindex the blockchain with the new fork - this is something the Verge developers decided

Steve Sokolowski · · #77939

we’ll issue payouts as soon as the daemon finishes that

travelinmusic · · #77940

Bitbar payments not receiving in tested wallet since Jan 9

travelinmusic · · #77941

And $50 still missing from dollar. Ticket opened a month ago. New ticket opened today

pavvappav · · #77943

TFW the only coin up for the day is Teather.

alvarezgen · · #77944

Hey Steve, would you have any idea what I’m not getting my payouts on LTC?

fallingcurtain · · #77945

What a spectacular dump today.

fallingcurtain · · #77946

Just missed my 9800$ fill on btc by 300$ damn

fallingcurtain · · #77947

Might dump some more tonight though. Who knows what China will do

N00BMiner33 · · #77948

Are there any ongoing issues with Verge payouts? Currently i am sitting at over 201 earned with 154 payout due within 2 days and 3 hours. The payout amount and time has only grown.

3Moose · · #77949

@Steve Sokolowski : </strong> says the verge people are doing a hard fork and therefore he can’t pay use until after than is over. I don’t blame steve .. but I lost 50% of the coins value during the process. Hopefully it recovers.

3Moose · · #77950

@Steve Sokolowski : </strong> Do you know when the fork will happen and you can pay? Google is not giving much info....

N00BMiner33 · · #77952

\/ I just saw the post right after I submitted my issue. Thank you for the heads up. We will see what will happen. Perhaps in the long run we can make more as people pull out of mining and we are able to earn more coins. It already looks like PH is down 1,000 workers from yesterday.

Steve Sokolowski · · #77953

3Moose wrote: @Steve Sokolowski : </strong> Do you know when the fork will happen and you can pay? Google is not giving much info....
I don’t know when the fork will occur, but we had to upgrade before it does, and it just happened that the upgrade time was today

If the fork is a month away, does that mean I don’t get paid for a month?

Steve Sokolowski wrote: the daemon needs to reindex the blockchain with the new fork - this is something the Verge developers decided

AppleMiner · · #77956

if it takes the verge network a month to re-index their chain, i would guess yep, nothing moves on that network in the meantime

3Moose · · #77957

This confuses me because I can buy coins the exchange and still mine the coin.

AppleMiner · · #77958

yep

AppleMiner · · #77959

the exchange has the coins and can transfer them internally

AppleMiner · · #77960

can you have an exchange you have coins on send you those verge coins out to another external wallet?

3Moose · · #77961

AppleMiner wrote: the exchange has the coins and can transfer them internally
I guess I assumed PH had the coins I was solo mining or bought them from the exchange.

3Moose · · #77962

God... profitability stinks....

AppleMiner · · #77963

yeah the whole market took off 20-30% today

AppleMiner · · #77964

1K ether, saw close to 10K btc

3Moose · · #77965

I see bitmain raised the price of the L3 to $2378. I assume that comes with 12 oz of cocaine at that price.
