I cant run 220v I ony have 120v 20 amp - 50 amp service.
poolrunner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 06:27 PM UTC · #41289
I repurposed the run for mining.
poolrunner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 06:29 PM UTC · #41290
As difficulty rises the power usage has to remain below 1500watts per unit and the miner hash rate has to increase or the home mining market will stop.

poolrunner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 06:35 PM UTC · #41292
Agreed. There is a limit of 200 amps per home in the U.S. That is the starting parameter of getting into this.
poolrunner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 06:35 PM UTC · #41293
And the KWH rate is usage tiered.
poolrunner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 06:36 PM UTC · #41294
But fear not. There is always someone who breaks the system with a new insight or update.
mickeekung · Tue Oct 17, 2017 06:51 PM UTC · #41295
My share stale is very high.

centar · Tue Oct 17, 2017 07:04 PM UTC · #41297
I think at some point they will be cheap enough that it will make sense for most people who live in an area that can utilize solar to have panels
centar · Tue Oct 17, 2017 07:05 PM UTC · #41298
in my area most new homes are being built with solar included.

I have 17 L3s coming in a few weeks and looking for hosting. Does anyone have any referrals that has availability?
centar · Tue Oct 17, 2017 07:07 PM UTC · #41300
hosting as in.....a physical location to put them? What do you mean?
Skarda · Tue Oct 17, 2017 07:07 PM UTC · #41301
Yes a physical location to send them to
centar · Tue Oct 17, 2017 07:08 PM UTC · #41303
ah ok. No sorry, can’t help you there.
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 07:14 PM UTC · #41304
guys do you know how i can put a bitcoin mining software on the computers at pc world?

Skarda · Tue Oct 17, 2017 07:20 PM UTC · #41312
Do you have a data center?
achim · Tue Oct 17, 2017 07:35 PM UTC · #41313
"Both primary and merge mined shares are stale 80" in 5 hours mining.. what is going on?
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 07:54 PM UTC · #41314
since i changed the difficulty level on my L3+ from d=16384 to d=131072 it seems that its been slower to mine coins
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 07:54 PM UTC · #41315
but i’m unsure whether this has to do with the pool problems rather than the change in difficulty
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 07:55 PM UTC · #41316
and it seems that it’s discarding more shares on here than accepting
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:01 PM UTC · #41317
reverting back to my old difficulty level - screw the guy that suggewted 131072
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:10 PM UTC · #41327
131K and 262K are great for the high difficulty coins we usually spend time on, BCC and LTC.
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:10 PM UTC · #41328
but for other coins a lower value may be more beneficial, if you were static minging all day, use a D maybe = more profits, but on the coin switching d off is better than D= settings ive found.
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:11 PM UTC · #41329
only had 1 miner so buddy ran his with D= and I ran without then the next day we swapped, and the miners with no d= setting was a dollar higher for the day on each test run.
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:12 PM UTC · #41330
wish i had like 4 miners to split 2 and 2 and try but was the best we could do to check the data.
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:12 PM UTC · #41331
someone said that if you do automatic it mines 500k difficulty
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:13 PM UTC · #41334
all the D= setting does is tell the pool how much work your mining rig is capable of lifting
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:13 PM UTC · #41335
i want to overwork my miner
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:15 PM UTC · #41339
ok, removing d argument and testing to see
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:19 PM UTC · #41341
will be hard to see any results you need another unit to test it agaisnt
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:19 PM UTC · #41342
if you had 2 and put one on each account and then swapped settings the next day and then compared, that would be a lot more ideal.
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:19 PM UTC · #41343
i think lower difficulty makes the machines louder
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:20 PM UTC · #41345
mine's in the shed under the garage in a locked room, so id never notice any more or less noise form a setting change, sorry
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:21 PM UTC · #41346
and its LOVING the cold eather outside today
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:22 PM UTC · #41349
and my miners are in my living room right next to a window
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:22 PM UTC · #41351
if it gets hot, the secret is put a box fan IN the window blowing OUTSIDE, and then stick the miner in front blowing into the fan
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:23 PM UTC · #41352
my chip temps are 35 degrees
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:23 PM UTC · #41353
like most people have said, its NOT about getting the cold air into the miners, its all about taking the HOT air just out of that room so its not recycled.
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:23 PM UTC · #41354
yeah thats why its easier to just have them blowing out of a window
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:24 PM UTC · #41357
where I had 4 miners all blowing into a central point, that had my hit water heater, so the miners would help keep the temp up in the tank so less enegery to take the hot showers with.
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:25 PM UTC · #41358
does the dollar value of the payout fluctuate too? depending on the price? i’m finding one minute i’m looking at the dollars and it keeps going lower like i’m loosing coins
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:25 PM UTC · #41359
may end up moving the miner to the basement inside to add heat in the basement in the winter, will depend on the noise though
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:26 PM UTC · #41361
if you mine form midnight to noon and make 1 coin
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:26 PM UTC · #41362
and the price of that coin is 100 dollars at noon
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:26 PM UTC · #41363
then at noon yoou made $100.
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:26 PM UTC · #41364
if your miner then goes off to another site to mine the rest of the day and you come back at midnight for your 1 coin
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:27 PM UTC · #41365
and from noon to midinight the coin dropped from 100 down to $50, you would see $50 there for the day instead of 100
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:27 PM UTC · #41366
but i think the dollar on prohashing is also dynamic
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:27 PM UTC · #41368
no but the coin value you already have changes during the day
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:27 PM UTC · #41369
your 1 coin at noon is worth 100, whenthe coin hits 120 then that coin value at noon was 120
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:28 PM UTC · #41370
you still had 1 coin at noon and had it transferred at noon it would have been worth 100
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:28 PM UTC · #41371
but if it transfer at midnight when the price slides back down to 50, then you only got 50$ payout
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:28 PM UTC · #41372
where do you live appleminer?
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:29 PM UTC · #41373
the thing to note is, you still got 1 coin, now what price do you plan to sell that coin on the market for?
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:29 PM UTC · #41376
its saying my hash rate is 650 m/hs
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:29 PM UTC · #41379
1 coin is 1 coin, the value isnt really assigned to it until you sell ithas it been up for 2 hours?
AppleMiner · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:30 PM UTC · #41380
it been running for over 2 hours?
Poolpuppy · Tue Oct 17, 2017 08:30 PM UTC · #41381
well, i just applied a new argument to the miners
