@edwd89 : not really a good time to purchase a miner, i’d wait for next generation if i were you. Be very skeptical of resellers. Bitmain.com is a good place to look. In the mean time you can rent hashpower from places like Nicehash if you’d like to get your feet wet.
Question: If I’m mining letting the pool choose all my mining settings, should the general form of my payouts follow that of the "Total miner earnings" on the home page, all other things being equal ?
@edwd89 : I never made any money renting from Nicehash, it was pretty much a zero sum game. And you probably wont either unless you write a great bot. But its a way to try out mining and see first hand how PH works.
does any one know how the algorthm for this pool works? steve? like if the price of a coin goes down you will receive more of the coin to compensate for your work correct?
and if the price of coin goes up during mining you will mine less of that coin?how often does it calculate the price of coin to determine your payout based on your shares

It has nothing to do with the price of a coin. You are paid in the coin, not USD, If the price of the coin goes up, the coins you mined are simply worth more. The network difficulty adjusts higher or lower based on a list of things depending on the coin. Google bitcoin difficulty to understand how it work.
i know how regular pools work, i was just thinking the work your being paid for on this pool is proportionate. this is not your typical pool where you just mine the coin your hash power is being used to mine multiple coins and you are paid in your preffered coin
It’s all the same. You are paid for the work you do and earn the coin you worked for which is then exchanged at the rate of exchange into your perfered coin. The exchange happens instantly if I had to guess. Get the coin as fast as possible as to not cause negative swings in value of work.
only saying this because i was looking at the block explorer and some of the vvalues of the coins are a bit higher than they really are so im assuming they dont update instatly with realtime price of coin
And you do realize they will only continue to go down right? As more batches of miners arrive online, and the profits get spread over more people/workers/miners.
but again, thats with TODAYS data, by the time the month is up, another batch of L3+s will be online, so thay may drop from 35 to 30 by end of the month.
the people who ordered back in july with the numbers, are going to get miners in the next 3 weeks, turn them on, wonder what happened to their projected profits, get pissed, and THEN try to sell them for 2X profit
I would change how Ebay works if I owed it, make all accounts buyer only accounts. If you WANT to sell on there, you send in $50 and become a seller, and the seller fees come off that deposit. If you scam, the scamee and ebay split that 50 after all the refunds to punish scammers.
So those with multiple miners, do you have any "unlucky" machines? I have 2 and today and most days, the same machine finds 97% of all the blocks while the other pitifully just does it’s thing LOL. Seriously today I have 37 found on my "first" machine with 2 on my other. Strange!
