i just been mining on ph for a few days is it always this unstable, or are there good stretches of profit

S3KshuN8 · · #19331

just severe growing pains...

FRISKIE · · #19332

It has its moments, and those good days make it all worth it :)

mileva · · #19333

quick question, are the issues this days mainly related to the pool software or network/infrastructure?

pilottage · · #19334

oh yes good moments? 1/3 to 1/2 earning lost this SUMMER sure it was good!

halfdime · · #19335

i asked earlier but no one answer, but im going away for two weeks, gonna leave my l3 on, but i wont be here to monitor things, should i point it to a more stable pool for now, i would try PH when I get back, but for now i can’t be here to monitor things

S3KshuN8 · · #19336

Then stop wasting both YOUR time AND ours, and log out.

S3KshuN8 · · #19337

ask for your account to be deleted.

S3KshuN8 · · #19338

Hit the road...

mileva · · #19339

@halfdime you can use fallback so if this pool goes down it reconnects to a healthy one

pilottage · · #19340

hopefully we HASH with our mind and make tons more money than with htese pisser hashers.... money for little KIDS

GenTarkin · · #19341

is a shit ton of rejects normal right now?

pilottage · · #19342

I cashout my Last BCH and Ciao guys.....

S3KshuN8 · · #19343

Last time I placed an order on NH it was 0.01 btc minimum. 10 BTC = 1000 zombies pointed here 24/7

GenTarkin · · #19344

oh well my miner fell back to freaking nicehas, guess this pool is still fuxxored

S3KshuN8 · · #19345

NH is a walking talking DDoS machine.

halfdime · · #19346

@mileva im not worried about it going down, im just worried about lost shares

S3KshuN8 · · #19347

*THE* GenTarkin ???

S3KshuN8 · · #19348

(I’m so gullible lol)

mileva · · #19349

@halfdime if you want to completely avoid lost shares you should go for something more stable, this one lately is disconnecting a lot and I will guess there would be lost work between reconnects

S3KshuN8 · · #19350

you could say yes and I’d send a small donation to the address listed in my Titan software.

GenTarkin · · #19351

yes, Im the writer of Titan firmware GenTarkin MOD =)

S3KshuN8 · · #19352

I shall send some LTC to the address in the miner. :)

S3KshuN8 · · #19353

tell me how much you get when you get it.

S3KshuN8 · · #19354

you could make a lucky guess, and win the lotto! ;)

GenTarkin · · #19355

k, Ill let ya know what I receive =)

GenTarkin · · #19356

I could always sign a message lol

S3KshuN8 · · #19357

A GenTarkin mod for L3+ would be TIGHT af

ru55ian · · #19358

GetTarkin... dude, after using your mod for a month, 2 dies died in 2 cubes for me. Had to switch back to original 2.0

GenTarkin · · #19359

yeah, Im getting an L3+ at end of september, gonna see what I can do with it

S3KshuN8 · · #19360

wasn’t the Tarkin mod, I assure you..

S3KshuN8 · · #19361

KnC was a shit company.

mileva · · #19362

so I’m wondering why prohashing doesn’t have several stratum servers, or even a rrDNS/geoDNS pointer to distribute connections across different servers

ru55ian · · #19363

i think it was.... those dies are so delicate... his mod is constantly restarting them and changing voltage, that did it... i assure you

GenTarkin · · #19364

sorry to hear that ru55ian, but my firmware improves reliability, safety and can lower operating watts usage. I achieve all that by simply making the code that already exists, smarter... I dont change low level settings that damage stuff, that can only be done by end user ... =)

GenTarkin · · #19365

yeah, if you had dies w/ problems, known problems ... and they constantly caused restarted... it would be best to just disable them

GenTarkin · · #19366

or leave them to naturally die

ru55ian · · #19367

no worries bud... those Titans ROI’s 5 times.. i am still puzzled that they are still running :-)

GenTarkin · · #19368

either way, the outcome woulda been the same on stock firmware, and actually, thosedies would just go braindead and not even have mined for you, whereas my firmware mined on them till they gave up

GenTarkin · · #19369

and usually if the dies are really dead, its caused by uneven contact surface of the HSF on the die OR the DCDC’s overheated

GenTarkin · · #19370

can easily tell by disassembling the cube and look at bottom of board, if you see browning underneath dies, those were running WAAAY to hot

whitenoise · · #19371

guys, anyone see your live balance and worker status?

GenTarkin · · #19372

its unfortunate KNC left a thermistor out of the Titan’s dies so we hav eno idea what the dies temp really is

whitenoise · · #19373

i do not see anything

GenTarkin · · #19374

you sent 0.10069273, thanks man! =)

mileva · · #19375

oh cool I was about to ask the same, yes the balance and worker status died

GenTarkin · · #19376

recently, I completel fubar’d the configuration of about 6 DCDC’s in my cubes

GenTarkin · · #19377

by resetting their settings to factory default, well turns out KNC had a unique configuration on each of the 8 DCDC’s in a cube

ru55ian · · #19378

I actually love my Titans....

GenTarkin · · #19379

I had to try and replicate the proper settings from working cubes ... involved running a few thousand i2cget/set commands to get them functional again

GenTarkin · · #19380

lets just say, I learned a shit ton about how the DCDC’s are configured lol

whitenoise · · #19381

mileva wrote: oh cool I was about to ask the same, yes the balance and worker status died
refresh does’t help?

GenTarkin · · #19382

I was afraid I killed the dies wen it first happened

GenTarkin · · #19383

yeah, I think the Titan has to be the longest running profitable ASIC EVER in any cryptocurrency

mileva · · #19384

not for me

GenTarkin · · #19385

3 years goin

GenTarkin · · #19386

2014-2017 ...

ru55ian · · #19387

yes... after 3 years all i did is changed fans

GenTarkin · · #19388

lucky for me they are insanely finicky / unreliable lol!

GenTarkin · · #19389

which gave birth to my firmware =)

GenTarkin · · #19390

I bought a titan and the sleeping dies problem required a freaking power cycle at least every 24hrs

ru55ian · · #19391

they are like kids... always need to watch them

GenTarkin · · #19392

once I found out that could be automated......... thats when the firmware mod came to life

GenTarkin · · #19393

since Ive been playing w/ the DCDC’s .... I found out a setting which could make them even more rliable and save a tad more on power

GenTarkin · · #19394

but noones wanted to test so.... kinda just swept under the rug

GenTarkin · · #19395

and it may impede actually more load on some components .... so not sure how that would affect a wider audience =/ kinda reluctant to make it into a release

whitenoise · · #19396

@Steve Sokolowski :  Steve, problem with hide live balance and worker status are global or not?

S3KshuN8 · · #19397

I still have a problem with sleeping dies, throwing false Fan Fails

S3KshuN8 · · #19398

BFGminer on an L3+ would be the shit... I think they use cgminer

GenTarkin · · #19399

thanks for the donations =)

S3KshuN8 · · #19400

thanks for the BIOS :)

GenTarkin · · #19401

hrm... fan fails are triggered when a substantial increase in dCDC temp is detected

S3KshuN8 · · #19402

I am thinking bad sensors throwing false positives...

GenTarkin · · #19403

Ive noticed some situations where a single DCDC goes to sleep, and 1 DCDC is left to try n power the die which cuases a huge amp / temp increase on that DCDC

GenTarkin · · #19404

and that could turn into a fan fail scenario

GenTarkin · · #19405

normally that situation would just lead to potentially a DCDC burning up

S3KshuN8 · · #19406

I’ve occasionally seen individual dies reporting 0 output and bad voltages etc.

S3KshuN8 · · #19407

and one of my dies refuses to run at 325 MHz

GenTarkin · · #19408

DCDC’s u mean?

GenTarkin · · #19409

yeah, its just the nature of the beast, =/ could be overheating die, weakened DCDC in a group causing the other to go wonkers

S3KshuN8 · · #19410

right, in the details, dc/dc 0,1 = die 1 right?

GenTarkin · · #19411

sadly I cant perfect the firmware for every scenario =( that would require me to own every Titan on the planet and have infinite time

S3KshuN8 · · #19412

lol no problem!

GenTarkin · · #19413

well yes, dcdc0 /1 are the 2 dcdc’s for that die

S3KshuN8 · · #19414

it’s only an issue if/when I go on vacation.

GenTarkin · · #19415

sleeping dies are normal tho haha, seems to be the titan of things

S3KshuN8 · · #19416

next time that happens I’ll probably just underclock them all to 250 or 275

GenTarkin · · #19417

my firmware only attempts to wake them back up

GenTarkin · · #19418

without having to stand there and manually flip the power switch

S3KshuN8 · · #19419

my cousin bought the one I’m running now, and we did all the mods we could find for it.

GenTarkin · · #19420

hardware mods

GenTarkin · · #19421

?

S3KshuN8 · · #19422

best cables, two power supplies, replaced paste, redid thermal distribution...

S3KshuN8 · · #19423

better fans, all that

GenTarkin · · #19424

ah nice! yeah mine are still stock and hosted in alaska lol

GenTarkin · · #19425

well my single titan, only ever had one

S3KshuN8 · · #19426

wow

GenTarkin · · #19427

yes, did all the dev remotely haha

GenTarkin · · #19428

its been running since ’14

GenTarkin · · #19429

been through several cables and a few PSU’s rofl!
