GregoryGHarding · Fri Jun 16, 2017 10:41 PM UTC · #7001
i was not created for a Emerald block (.25) and i'm wondering if it has to do with your "every second share inserted" performance fix.
GregoryGHarding · Fri Jun 16, 2017 10:53 PM UTC · #7002

@Steve Sokolowski : Would you and/or Chris consider moving this chat over to IRC (e.g. some channel on Freenode)? Might save a little resource usage on your server.
VanessaEzekowitz · Sat Jun 17, 2017 03:49 AM UTC · #7030
@webshaun : I’m sure everything is still there, it’s just inaccessible, and if coins go missing, the guys will surely compensate you.

Can you recomend me backup multipool for scrypt?
GregoryGHarding · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:24 AM UTC · #7049
stratum+tcp://us-east.multipool.us:7777

i was this close --> <-- to exceeding my goal for the day. ARRRGGGG!!!

thats why i dont gamble with nicehash
fattygrub · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:27 AM UTC · #7052
i did excellent at nicehash...still have >.03 btc to run, but no pool to send it to. all the other options suck more than this one even when its dead.
GregoryGHarding · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:28 AM UTC · #7053
take a look at multipool.us, you need a wallet for eash scrypt coin they switch to, but you can use an exchange
GregoryGHarding · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:28 AM UTC · #7054
and you have to manually set diff in settings on website
GregoryGHarding · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:29 AM UTC · #7055
just make sure you use a secured exchange
mjgraham · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:31 AM UTC · #7059
I had a .0342 fixed on NH hope i did well today will have to see in the morn i guess

i have a feeling its another DDoS attack. seems very much like last night except mining is stopped too
fattygrub · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:38 AM UTC · #7062
hah for a sec it said: Last share processed: 12/31/1969 7:00:00 PM
Chris Sokolowski · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:41 AM UTC · #7066
I think what is happening is that the site gets DDoS’d, then Verizon detects that and automatically blocks connections to the IP address. It stops the attacker but also prevents anyone else from accessing the site. Then I have to change the IP address to get around it.
Chris Sokolowski · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:41 AM UTC · #7067
I’m going to call them tomorrow and see what is triggering this behavior
GregoryGHarding · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:41 AM UTC · #7068
what about upping the sensitivity on fail2ban
fattygrub · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:42 AM UTC · #7069
stats are up. apparently missing shares showed up. I CRUSHED it today at NH!
Chris Sokolowski · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:42 AM UTC · #7070
If you notice, the site is running on a different ip
Chris Sokolowski · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:42 AM UTC · #7071
Good idea @gregorygharding, I’ll try that
GregoryGHarding · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:43 AM UTC · #7072
try and catch the activity before verizon triggers the block
fattygrub · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:48 AM UTC · #7073
up 43.92% today ... not even done yet
VanessaEzekowitz · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:56 AM UTC · #7075
@GregoryGHarding : that won’t stop a DDoS, it’ll just shut down SSH access.
VanessaEzekowitz · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:57 AM UTC · #7076
@Chris Sokolowski : </strong> you should most definitely change to a better host. I mentioned OVH before, I’m a very satisfied customer and they handle DDoS well.
Chris Sokolowski · Sat Jun 17, 2017 04:59 AM UTC · #7077
Due to the service interruptions, I have decided to refund the pool fee for June 16. Balances have been increased accordingly. Thanks for mining with us!
topkhodon · Sat Jun 17, 2017 05:01 AM UTC · #7078
Tnx for fix. From Russia with love
GregoryGHarding · Sat Jun 17, 2017 05:04 AM UTC · #7079
VanessaEzekowitz wrote: @GregoryGHarding : that won’t stop a DDoS, it’ll just shut down SSH access. incorrect, default settings are configured for everyday server software IE apache/ssh/ftp but can be configured for anything with an error log
VanessaEzekowitz · Sat Jun 17, 2017 05:05 AM UTC · #7080
Well ok it’ll help other services, but the ISP will still see the incoming DDoS traffic regardless of what the server does with it, so the guys are still kinda screwed.
GregoryGHarding · Sat Jun 17, 2017 05:06 AM UTC · #7081
id say with the reoccuring attacks, a stratum endpoint ddos protection implementation may get pushed up the priority list, but dont take my word for it
GregoryGHarding · Sat Jun 17, 2017 05:07 AM UTC · #7082
a phone call to ISP telling them to F-Off will fix the ISP issue, and allow them to implement a software solution
mjgraham · Sat Jun 17, 2017 05:09 AM UTC · #7084
Do like we used to do and put a modem on that thing, some kind of out of band connection to it so you can manage it, typing on the phone is killing me tonight
GregoryGHarding · Sat Jun 17, 2017 05:13 AM UTC · #7085
a possible solution may be cloudflare but im not sure what the teams spending limits are
mjgraham · Sat Jun 17, 2017 05:16 AM UTC · #7086
True honestly these guys kick some butt with what they have done, i do agree it is nice to,have access to your own hardware
GregoryGHarding · Sat Jun 17, 2017 05:18 AM UTC · #7087
its imerative to run your own hardware for something like this, no one wants to entrust azure or other cloud hosting with tens of thousands of dollars of cryptocurrency transactions
vinylwasp · Sat Jun 17, 2017 05:34 AM UTC · #7089
Cloudflare is great for web services, and they do have graduated service levels so something may fit.
vinylwasp · Sat Jun 17, 2017 05:37 AM UTC · #7090
$200 per month for the "Business" option. Really easy to setup too.
