I see that too. I think people don’t see that they will not get a decent ROI
It felt like forever when I ordered my L3+ but I’m almost at ROI currently and majority of my mining has been at PH with little effiency issues or stale shares since starting
and it’s good luck on getting your hands on an L3+ or D3 at bitmain cause as soon as they put them up for sale, the website crashes. Bitmain announced a new batch of L3+’s going on sale at 8PM PDT so I see a website crash at 8:01PM PDT
I’m one of the idiots that bought 2 L3+ off amazon for 5k each. Then again they came with 3 year warranties through Assurant, so I’m not really sure how I can lose. Considering I can sell them for more than I bought them. I’m also the idiot that bought an D3 off ebay for 4k and thought it said 1st batch, but it said Nov. 1st batch. DOH!, finally learned my lesson and bought second D3 from Bitmain a couple batches ago.

I just hope you’re able to make a decent ROI on those once you receive them
Come december I wont be surprised to see L3+ miners up for sale on ebay pretty cheap, question is will you trust any of them not to be so overclocked for 2 months they have all the boards working and no burnouts.
they need to change some policies over there. Id like to see all accounts be buyer only. And if you want to sell, you pony up $50 to ebay to turn that service on. The seller fees come out of that $50, but if you screw over a customer, they get the rest of that $50.
Question about overclocking, lets say you kept these things cold (L3+ and D3) i mean cold cold (freezer status) would you see any OTHER risks in overclocking?
so the question is, are you planning to just mine 3 months then toss it all away, overclock it up. if you want to mine 8 months from now and resell to get the next rig...maybe not.
From what I’ve read on the internet it’s safe to overclock oup to 425 as long as you keep the connectors cool, they seem to like to melt that’s why I’m thinking oil
the issue is the wires inside are only rated to carry X amount of current. When you start adding more power you go over that rating and the wires start to burn up, so now less wires carry that load. etc etc etc over time the wire burns out. Hope that doesnt short or burn or spike anything.
hashingpro wrote: I will say...I’ve already thought about snagging 1 or 2 L3+ off my rack and keeping them at my place to help with the heating costs in the winter.
When you electric costs are low, then whats about what their value is outside of mining. Otherwise, I view them as a worthless paperweight when they’re at the shelf life
unlike the crappy KNC titan design, at least antminer added 2 pci-e connectors to distrute the current over more wires. That makes it a TON safer starting off.
i pay for electric heat to heat my place....just as well may pay for a miner to mine and keep the free heat byproduct. Im paying to run it at either place, just shift the electric charges from 1 to another...pay a bit more for my residential..but FREE HEAT!
since everyone has SOOO much knowledge here (love picking your brains honestly) Let me ask, is there a pool that mines multi cpu coins only? or like new coins with no GPU/ASIC’s yet?

Nicehash and zpool are a few I know that mine multi cpu coins
@mikey I was able to overclock my L3+ to 450Mhz for last 23 days without issue, but you have to keep close eye during hot days, you dont want to push your chip temp to over 75C.. I have software that automatic set miners to 400Mhz during peak of hottest day.

they arent going after the smart miners anymore, now they are targeting the wallstreet cats that just found out about all this last week and now want to get in on it.
