CSZiggy · · #91816

@olkah :  not that impressed really. I doubt the power of the facebook much less its coin. That’s the same company that tried to push VR right? How did that work out?

CSZiggy · · #91817

using a blockchain to validate users on an app might be fine. Charging people a crypto coin to post on their site is interesting, 1000 posts for $1 might generate more revenue, or send everyone away to a free service.

What’s the difference between vanilla Equihash and 144,5 ? Is it configuration only, or is the variation ASIC-resistant? (I.e. Will it work on a Z9-mini?)

Bitcoin Gold forked to that algorithm because they believed it would delay the time until ASICs were used to mine bitcoin gold

olkah · · #91827

@ Steve Sokolowski when will the original algorithm work Cryptonight ?

I spent the day working on the problem and determined that significant investeigation is going to be required

Steve Sokolowski · · #91829

we don’t have an ETA at this point because this is a very difficult problem to solve

There was a pricing error that affected 91 miners - Chris is correcting those balances and then payouts will be issued as normal

Steve Sokolowski · · #91834

no money was lost and no action is necessary by anyone

Does that fall into the, pool made a mistake, we are sorry, 15% extra for error on the pool’s side?

olkah · · #91838

@ Steve Sokolowski Now when to wait for The cryptonight algorithm ???

CSZiggy · · #91839

CSZiggy · · #91840

@Steve Sokolowski : </strong> Yesterday’s pool payout jumped from 26K up to 42K, was there another payout error related to a few miners that didn’t get corrected to jump it up again or was there a mistake in the correction or ????

@ Steve Sokolowski when will the original algorithm work Cryptonight ?

PolakCrypto · · #91847

when will 144_5 mining on prohashing work with Gminer? theres no possible way to use it since you require --pers string to be absent from mining.bat/config

PolakCrypto · · #91848

gminer will not launch without a specified --pers string

PolakCrypto · · #91849

as well you cant leave it blank..miner wont launch

PolakCrypto · · #91850

also prohashing doesnt support --pers auto either

PolakCrypto · · #91851

hence why i was getting rejected shares with it

Steve Sokolowski · · #91852

PolakCrypto wrote: when will 144_5 mining on prohashing work with Gminer? theres no possible way to use it since you require --pers string to be absent from mining.bat/config
that looks like an implementation error - we’ll disable the algorithm while the next steps are determined

ultiman2 wrote: cryptonightv8 down? i think the algoritm was changed this weeked
It’s temporarily offline while we investigate what needs to be done to move to the new Monero algorithm

Steve Sokolowski · · #91878

Monero changed its algorithm and we weren’t aware of that

CSZiggy · · #91879

I realize that is like a base coin for its algo, but was there a policy about abandoning coins that do forks without enough prior notice to allow changes to be made to then in a realistic time?

CSZiggy · · #91880

The next question I guess, how much $ was being generated by Monero being mined? Is it worth while to keep it minable if the profits the pool gets from mining it have a lower ROI than increasing payouts on SHA-256 or scrypt or X-11? Might increasing payouts on one of the other algos be a better use of pool resources or was Monero that popular/profitable?

Steve Sokolowski · · #91881

That policy doesn’t apply here because Monero did announce this fork, many months ago

Steve Sokolowski · · #91882

the issue here is, like the Ethereum fork, that we weren’t made aware of it until a customer informed us after it happened

I have negative balance and i see the notification I gott pay off negative balances..can I just send you back the coins...

PolakCrypto · · #91885

cause i feel its egregious your guys system pays out to put us in the negative then its our fault and we have to "mine" for free to pay off your faulty payout system?

PolakCrypto · · #91886

lmk ill file a support ticket, give me the receive addresses and ill pay back the coin to put me at a even 0.00 balance

If you’d like to do that, submit a ticket and Chris will help you - but in the end it’s pretty much the same thing and a lot easier just to mine

Steve Sokolowski · · #91890

my dad received a $5,000 check from DISCOVER bank on Saturday for a loan he had never taken out; he called them and they agreed to rip up the check - mistakes like that are made all the time, but it doesn’t mean it was his money to keep :)

PolakCrypto · · #91891

its not much..miniscule..but for my small mining operation id rather just send it back

PolakCrypto · · #91892

I also have guncoin taht is in negative balance but I cant earn that coin

PolakCrypto · · #91893

what happens there then? am im blocked/glitched from earning again until guncoin gets its wallet unlocked?

PolakCrypto · · #91894

I sent a support ticket for it lets see what happens

CSZiggy · · #91895

@PolakCrypto :  I still have 2 coins, that are negative -.0000031 and whatnot that cannot ever be earned again. leaves data on the earnings/settings page you can never get rid of, yep.

jde · · #91896

I noticed the orphan rates for the three biggest Equihash coins are over 5%. Is that right? Does that mean the pool is losing money with Equihash?

CSZiggy · · #91897

@jde :  Pretty sure it means they are figuring in a 5% loss of what its valued at on the exchanges due to the average of losing a block here and there due to orphans. They still get 5% of what YOU make. So you get paid 95% of what the exchange rate is, then they get 5% of that.

CSZiggy · · #91898

you would have to ask the pool owners if the selling of 1 coin and the buying of another also incurs the fees on the exchanges to buy-sell instant coins, and then the 5% fee on top of those fees.

Steve Sokolowski · · #91900

jde wrote: I noticed the orphan rates for the three biggest Equihash coins are over 5%. Is that right? Does that mean the pool is losing money with Equihash?
those orphan rates are accounted for when deciding payouts - these coins have very fast block times, and therefore have a lot of orphans

Monero changed algorithms, so you need to use the new CryptonightR port - cryptonightv8 will eventually return with whatever coins are still on that algorithm

olkah · · #91929

I have developed a strong belief that the pools added an algorithm on which the usual miner is not what opportunities to make good money and added only fraudulent algorithms such as CryptonightR. And like Cryptonight if and when it will be added then it will be impossible to earn and not because of the coins he has little, and certainly not because they are not on the exchanges. For example https://www.mining-dutch.nl/ when asked, add Cryptonight goes off the defensive as buto didn't hear the question.I believe that it is done deliberately and it seems that there is a conspiracy.

olkah · · #91930

olkah · · #91931

And the more the problem is not how can not be the equipment as for example something for other algorithms of this problem simply does not exist but only exclusively for Cryptonight it is and it leads to certain thoughts.
