Re: Altmarkets integration API + Coin add request

Thanks for the suggestion! This sounds like an interesting exchange.

I looked at it and found that there are a few missing features, which we'll wait for before considering it. First, there is no API call to determine whether the wallet of a coin is "locked" - or preventing withdrawals. We require that feature so that we can stop trading coins that have locked wallets.

The other missing feature is the current block number of the exchange's coin daemon. Without knowing the current block number, the risk of a fork is too high. We need to know immediately when our block number diverges from the exchange's block number.

While I can't say that we would definitely implement the exchange after these features are available, they are both necessary before we could even consider it.

That's great. I'm going to alert Steven Godshall to this exchange, and he'll post his thoughts about implementing it.

We just talked about Altmarkets.

Our research revealed that the exchange has a lot of mineable coins, which is the final requirement we need to add an exchange. It also has a lot of unique coins that are not listed on other exchanges, which is perfect.

But we can't add it because the exchange has a daily volume of $2,332 across all coins. Most of the volume is not in the unique coin markets, so our sell orders would go unfulfilled and we would only be able to mine 5 or 10 blocks at a time and have to wait for them to sell. It would cost too much to pay Steven to implement the exchange for the potential profit we could make given that we couldn't sell enough blocks there.

Please let us know when there are more buyers at this exchange. Once we see more buy orders appearing, this will be one of our top priorities.
