Bitcoin Cash ABC issue resolved

Post by Steve Sokolowski » Sun Nov 25, 2018 6:06 pm

While we were returning to State College after the Thanksgiving holiday, SHA-256 miners were disconnected because, for an unknown reason, the Bitcoin Unlimited Cash client started returning "invalid address" errors when we attempted to validate the addresses we were using for the coinbase transactions. The errors created issues with other algorithms because they caused high CPU load.

Chris has disabled Bitcoin Cash ABC until he can determine why this issue occurred suddenly. We anticipate that Bitcoin Cash will be back tomorrow. All other coins are already online.

In other news, the system restarted the past few mornings because of what we believe to be a failing motherboard. Chris will order another motherboard to replace it, but it will be at least a week or two before it arrives. The mining server is not using this motherboard, so the effect of a restart is that the website goes offline and shares are queued until Chris fixes the problem. Mining won't be affected if this motherboard issue happens again.

in the meantime assume the bad motherboard is heat senstive and try to get more airflow around it. or better quality (cooler) air that is currently flowing (ie: pull chassis out from cramped spaces, racking)

Unfortunately, the location is in Philadelphia, so we aren't near the datacenter to be able to make these changes. This would have been a great idea if Chris had thought of it before leaving last week.

bitcoincashSV is now more profitable than ABC and BTC , but is in error on prohashing, we're all missing out right now

Code: Select all

The coinbase address for this daemon is invalid.

This issue has been resolved. It turns out that the cause of the issue is the same as the cause with Bitcoin ABC. The name "BitcoinCash" was hardcoded in three other places. This time, I searched for the name and changed it everywhere. I checked in the changes and a release will be issued later tonight.
