3rd party escrow

Post by mrgoldy » Sun Jun 18, 2017 10:50 pm

Has anyone ever bought off of forums?

I'm talking with someone from bitcointalk about buying an asic.
I've read that 3rd party escrows are the safest way to make the purchase.

Anyone ever use one? suggestions on a lesser fee service?
it will be a $40 asic + shipping, so I'm hoping escrow fees are minimal

You basically have one called ebay that does exactly that or at least functions that way. You could offer to send half the coin up front and half on the delivery but he might shy away from that too. There has to be some trust on behalf of the buyer for the seller.

ebay, paypal, aliexpress, they all operate on escrow, and favor the buyer over the seller for disputes.

I guess I didn't think paypal offers this outside of ebay.

Not sure I would describe PayPal's "dispute resolution" handling as escrow either.
