Getting some "Lost" Verge blocks

Post by leomedina01 » Wed Apr 13, 2016 6:18 pm

Why am I getting some Verge coin blocks with status "Lost", and some 'Orphaned' for other coins as well. Can it be recovered by you?

User: leomedina01

Thanks.

Thanks for the report. That was a configuration issue on our end; I recently swapped out our VERGE wallet for a new one and forgot to change the coinbase address to which we mine coins. I fixed the problem.

For your reference, since we are a pay-per-share pool, you get paid just as much for those blocks that are lost or orphaned; we as the pool owners lose money when there is a configuration issue.

Thanks for all Chris.

So have you credited these coins amount back to me, including the orphaned blocks? Or did you mean that anyway those coins are credited to me automatically no matter if they are orphaned or lost?

Also, I'm concerned because today I got more orphaned and lost blocks for coins such as CryptoEscudo, GameCredit, Emerald, Bongger, Worldcoin, Gcoin, Marscoin, Syscoin, Dogecoin, etc. For GameCredit, Syscoin and Dogecoin, the amounts are not low.

What to do in this case?

Thanks.

You are credited based upon the shares you submit, regardless of whether those shares find a block and regardless of whether that block is confirmed or orphaned. Orphanage is based upon how quickly we as the pool get the block to the coin network, not how quickly you get the block to us. There is an inverse correlation between the block time and the orphanage rate, so orphans are completely normal, especially for coins with short block times.

If you don't get the block to us quickly enough, then you will get a rejected share instead. We are working on coin optimizations to reduce the number of orphans so that everyone can earn more money; as a miner you should focus on reducing rejected shares if you have any.

Hi Chris, Want to say out of all the pools I have tried I love this one! Speaking of Verge. Last time I mined some they did not pay out. I forget what you said the problem was but I got the coins. I am now mining them again. IS all OK on the withdraws for Verge and also I am now Mining Solarcoin. Also wanted to ask if there is anyway we can delete the list of coins on the main page that I am no longer mining that show zero balance? Not a big deal just would be a nice thing to have the option. Thanks

PS Verge Coin has a updated wallet I do not know if that is any concern on your end..It was just updated about a week ago

I updated our VERGE client immediately after they released the fork. The new code had an incompatibility with our old wallet.dat, and that is what was causing the payout issues and the lost blocks. I had to transfer all our coins to a new wallet, but it works now. I will check to see if there is an even newer version of the VERGE client and update to that.

Do your wallets have zero balance or some very small amount of change? We do allow you to delete wallet addresses if you have never earned coins, but if you have any earnings then you will be unable to delete the wallet. We do plan to put in a way to delete change in the future, but I can't give you a timeframe on when we will have it ready.

I confirmed that we are on the correct chain. Thanks for checking to make sure we knew the fork. I always appreciate users reaching out to let me know a fork is coming so I can prepare and not have our coins error out. I knew the VERGE fork was coming, but due to the sheer number of coins I have to maintain, I frequently miss forks and as a result coins end up in error on the pool until I change to the correct forks.
