It might help to have a better understanding of the term Merge Mining. You can read up on it here: https://prohashing.com/guides/merge-mining
Also note that Prohashing using FPPS takes your hashpower and converts it to whatever coin you choose.
In simple terms, when you are mining LTC, Dogecoins come along for the ride. Some mining pools will automatically merge the 2 coins payout into LTC. Other pools will keep the 2 split and payout in both LTC and Doge. ViaBTC is an example of keeping the 2 seperate. Litecoinpool merges the 2 into 1 LTC payout.

In the image below, you can see the profit difference. Merged into 1 payout vs. split into 2 payouts. Payouts being estimates.
FYI, Nicehash is a horrible company and only used as the easy example.

Please explain further what you mean here.

If I mine DOGE alone I get around 60 per day. But if I put say 50% on Shiba Inu and 50% on DOGE then I’d only get 30 DOGE a day right?

Seems if I wanted more DOGE, then mining alone would make sense?
When you say 50% on Shiba Inu and 50% on DOGE, are you referring to your payout proportions?
Yes. I don’t know how else you’d merge mine with prohashing if not that
Merge mining and your payout proportions are two separate things. With merge mining you are actually mining two different coins at once and getting credit for both. Setting Payout Proportions is basically you saying, for example, "I mined Litecoin, but I'm not interested in getting paid out 100% in Litecoin. I am interested, though, in getting paid out in 25% Shiba Inu, 25% Solana, and 50% Bitcoin (or whatever proportions make sense to you). You can set payout proportions to coins other than the ones you've mined regardless of whether you're merge mining or not.
