Prohashing Requires You To Subit US IRS TAX | No piror Notice

Why is ProHashing restricting my payments and prompting for identification when I am not a US citizen? I have rented rigs overseas but my logins are clearly outside of the US.

I should not be subjected to Prohashing just immediately changing terms without any prior notice. How can I get in contact with support to execute my payment? Will be moving the rigs that I have rented to another pool.

Feb 8, 2018 10:08:45 AM - Payouts are being withheld. Please submit U.S. IRS tax information on the Settings page to release payments

Additionally my balance is not even over $600 and will not reach there since I just got the rigs reconfigued

Hi akiratek,

If you think that Chris made a mistake in regards to the $600 limit, then please submit a support ticket and he'll be glad to investigate.

As to providing notice, you might recall that we did announce in the forums back in mid-December that this information would be required, and that there were over 40 replies to the post. Since we are just complying with the law, this requirement should not be a surprise.

The documentation provides additional information about how the tax information is not used for any other purpose, like marketing. Plus, no identity documents are required. If you are not a US customer, then you most likely just have to sign the form stating that you are not, and you can continue mining as before. While we can't provide personal advice for your specific situation, most customers who don't live in the US can simply submit the form and owe nothing and will never be contacted again.

If, however, you aren't willing to do that, then I'm sorry to hear that we will lose you as a customer. You can change your mind within 90 days and payouts will continue as normal. Otherwise, hopefully you can understand that we cannot legally pay you without this information after you've earned $600, and any earnings above that will be forfeit in April.

Opened a ticket with support as suggested. Unfortunately I do not check the forums of a pool. It would have been better to display that notice and a link to the post in the forum just as you did from within the dashboard when asking for IRS documents. I have no reason to be reading the forums and Prohashing could have sent emails with regards to the new policy and also prompt miners to accept new terms. None of those were done.

Majority of the miners you probably still have is not aware of this change and will also be blind sided. I will wait to see how my ticket gets resolved. But you need to take steps to inform miners other than making a post on the forum.

Also can you point me to the post you said you made on the forum. Would like to send it to some other miners to make them aware. Was not able to find it using the search function.

The primary reason we weren't able to notify customers by E-Mail is because, for the exact privacy reasons you and others mentioned, we don't require customers to provide E-Mail addresses to us.

We've considered an idea someone suggested of adding a feature for customers to enter an optional E-Mail address to be used for notifications. That's an idea that's in our tasklist and which we'll be investigating in the future.

When creating the profile, no documents were required and there were no notifications about the restrictions on amounts. Now that you have my money you need to disclose my personal information. This procedure is considered by me as blackmail. And you threaten to confiscate my money. Who is going to confiscate my money and on what basis?

its not blackmail its called government regulation, any profit over 600$ needs to be disclosed to government in USA for tax purposes, if youre an American citizen, fill out the 1099 and submit it in your settings page, or declare youre not an american citizen if youre not, otherwise you wont get paid. its all for legality purposes as prohashing IS NOT another illegally run pool.

You know Steve after spending a bit of time on the forum. going back thru some of my stuff, i remember back at beginning of Dec and today when i created some testing accounts.

I have noticed that not once have i gotten a confirmation email or such From Prohashing. Oh wait you do not require an email to sign up.
You may find this to be a BIG issue with your NON English speaking, non- USA "customers". Being as you only have a few thousand members on the forum which is usually due to problems. How can you get the word to the other say 70% or more of your "customers" if you have no contact info for them???

Maybe this is a little too quick of a roll out before having all your ducks in a row. I suspect when These "customers" that dont bother to come to the forum or log into their accounts find out, they are going to be pretty pissed off when their payments stop an they have received nothing from PH concerning the issue. Looks like a ton of extra support tickets and headaches "if" they understand they have to create 2 more accounts to log into support and forums. The word will travel fast, because in their minds, they were not informed of the changes and that PH stole their money.

Normally When a TOS agreement is updated every "customer" receives that information(Or at very least attempts are made with proof) so they have the chance to make an informed decision about the changes before they take effect. Changing of TOS on a web page or forum that doesnt get visited by many of your customers nor translated to their language is not allowing them the chance for an informed decision. This could and may open up a world of unwanted legal issues for you. With you in PA i dunno but i can tell you other states and some countries are very strict about the changing of TOS without allowing ALL customers in their jurisdiction the chance to make a timely and informed decision.

I know you guys are trying your best to do the "right thing" and be legal in the USA. on a FED level.

Are you sure you have been Informed correctly? I would maybe look into a second opinion since now you have 49 other states and rest of world to deal with.

Just something to think about
