Litecoin difficulty went from about 1800k to 2600k yesterday. Difficulty will go up about another 200k in 3 days. 1 week ago difficulty was at about 1400k. In less then two weeks that means difficulty would have doubled.

Essentially, Scrypt mining is in the same death spiral as X11, but the killing blow won't hit till march when the next mega-shipment of L3+ miners goes out.

The network was also split, some would work BCC some would work LTC.

Now that BCC is gone, everything has shifted more to LTC so it has exploded in difficulty with all the hashing directed just to 1 coin now.
Sort of like what happened in X-11 when everything eventually got pointed to just 2 or 3 coins and mostly dash.
