new guy trying out this mining thing

Post by nielsrobin » Mon Oct 16, 2017 6:48 pm

Hi, so I downloaded CCMiner, seems the right choice my GFX card.

So.. I try to run it and get this:
ccminer-x64-75.exe -o stratum+tcp://prohashing.com:3333 --userpass nielsrobin:"c=Litecoin"
*** ccminer 2.2.2 for nVidia GPUs by tpruvot@github ***

[2017-10-16 18:43:49] Starting on stratum+tcp://prohashing.com:3333
[2017-10-16 18:43:49] NVML GPU monitoring enabled.
[2017-10-16 18:43:49] NVAPI GPU monitoring enabled.
[2017-10-16 18:43:49] 1 miner thread started, using 'auto' algorithm.
[2017-10-16 18:44:10] Stratum connection failed: Failed to connect to prohashing.com port 3333: Timed out
[2017-10-16 18:44:10] ...retry after 30 seconds

So.. What am I doing wrong?

Does Prohashing support ccminer?

I know you have to have a certain version to be compatible when using CGminer, not sure if there is a correct version that allows ccminer to run.

Also for the past few days now getting a connection into prohashing has been taking 10+ mins to find it ALIVE.
If your program looks for it to be alive and its not and it shuts down, then it has no spot in the queue line saved to get into the pool and hash.

If there is a server restart and you run your miner program right after a reboot you might see it as ALIVE and connect in and mine, but once you lose connection or restart, likely not to get connected back in for a while.

Good luck.

hmm is there a list of supported miners and version somewhere?
I'll try and leave it running and see if it suddenly catches on.

I don`t know what Kind of GFX u`r using, but remember -> PH only get valid shares above 5mhs...
So 1 GFX would be only about 900 khs :(
