Why Set Diff?

If the system will set optimal diff, why bother setting it? Seems counter intuitive to me....

The ph notes say it does. it says if you leave it blank, it sets it optimally.

For the side of PH, since they don't want you to submit to much shares, some machines require more or less shares than the other. That your enemies tactics are optimal doesn't mean that your team is good at it. (because someone said there is a 75% chance at ethereum being crypto leader, doesn't mean it will)
