Mining server restart today

Today, we will be restarting all mining servers. We expect the downtime to last for about 1 second in the most case; however, we assign a 10% probability that something will be wrong and require longer downtime or a revert.

This mining server release contains major changes to support the following coming features:

• ACH payouts
• Chia mining
• Shibu Inu and 8 other new top-50 coins
• A large number of additional Coinbase payout coins

None of these features will be available today. Instead, today's goal is to get the mining server release, which is the most disruptive and which is a prerequisite for all other components, finished and verified. Once the mining server is verified, we can then slowly release the features without interrupting this most critical part of the system.

There may be an outage of all services in the coming days, as we need to do a simple change of cord in the outbound router from a standard Ethernet cable to a fiber cable. The purpose of that change is to increase our bandwidth to 2gbps symmetric from the 500mbps we have now, once Comcast enables that on the upstream router. That outage should last only as long as it takes for someone to unplug and plug in the cords.
