BCH fork plans

Post by Steve Sokolowski » Thu Nov 12, 2020 12:21 pm

As previously announced, Prohashing will mine and allow customers to earn both forks after Bitcoin Cash splits. The split is expected to occur on Sunday, November 15. Steven is preparing the servers now by installing the new BCHN daemon. Once the fork happens, we will immediately mine both chains.

Here's how payouts will work:
  • Customers who have a Bitcoin Cash balance will see a duplicate balance in the other coin once the fork occurs. The existing name "Bitcoin Cash" may be removed and both forks will likely have different names.
  • All BCH wallet addresses will be cleared. You'll need to enter a new wallet address for both forks.
  • Payouts (in both BCH forks only) will be suspended until we find at least one block in either fork, and then 100 other blocks are found by someone after that. We will then use the new block to add replay protection to our wallet, allow a few confirmations for the replay prevention transaction, and re-enable payouts. Overall, this process will likely take 1 to 1.5 days.
Feel free to discuss these plans and to post any additional questions below.

Updates on the BCH fork:
  • Going forward, "BitcoinCash" is the BitcoinCash Node fork, and later today we will add a new coin named "BitcoinCashABC" and credit users for their pre-fork BitcoinCash balances.
  • BitcoinCash (node) payouts are now re-enabled.
  • All BitcoinCash and BitcoinCashABC wallet addresses will need to be verified to ensure that we aren't sending payouts to invalid addresses. Until your address is verified, your BitcoinCash and BitcoinCashABC payouts will be stopped. To verify your address, go to your "Payouts" page and either choose to save your existing address without changes or enter a new address and save.
  • Since no exchange that accepts U.S. customers yet allows BitcoinCashABC deposits, we will not yet be able to mine it, but the pre-fork balances will still be paid pending address verification.

I wanted to announce that you can add replay protection to your wallet by mining at Prohashing. Here's how:
  • Submit at least one share and set your payout proportions to at least some Bitcoin Cash Node
  • After receiving a payout, send all of the money in your wallet to yourself
Your wallet will now be replay protected, and you can use the same key to send Bitcoin Cash ABC coins without worrying about replays.
