Determined cause of server downtime

Post by Steve Sokolowski » Wed Aug 02, 2017 4:40 pm

Today, we restarted the mining server to apply a fix for static difficulty miners.

While the fix was successful and we think it will help L3 owners, the restart exposed a bug that only occurred during the initialization period. If an exchange is offline, the mining server will enter an infinite loop trying to reconnect. The loop is acceptable when the server is running, because we want to continue to try to connect to exchanges in the background, but not while starting up.

The reason this issue occurred now is because this is the first time Poloniex happened to be offline when we were starting the mining server.

We apologize for the delay in figuring this out and restoring service. Feel free to submit a support ticket commenting on whether the L3 static difficulty issue has been improved or fixed.
