GPU and CPU Mining causes block connectivity

Post by FDDanny » Mon Jun 07, 2021 5:30 pm

Hi All,
New to mining and enjoying it.
Currently running GPU mining successfully on my system. Gminer is going well.
To enhance what is being processed I tried to add CPU mining on the same systems using XMRig

Using all basic command options, the instant I run XMRig all connections to Prohashing are blocked for about 15 minutes.
Gminer gets access denied messages, web site access is cut (402) and nothing runs.
Shutdown XMrig and let is sit about 15 minutes than restart gminer and all is well.
How can I run both and not get blocked? Can I run both?

Thanks!

What are you trying to mine with XMRIG?

I have my GPU doing Ethash and XMRIG is set for Monero.

So it works fine, are you sure you have your configuration files set up correctly?

Yeah you can run both, as I take the same way as Alynn. The hardware you are using would be interesting and to shoot a little into the blue, are you running both mining programs with admin privileges?

Initially not with admin but I did correct that. xmrig does run but I must have something that is tripping up prohashing as I loose all connectivity including my gminer setup that runs great until i try to fire off xmrig. doing more homework but still reaching out here.

I use XMRig for CPU and PhoenixMiner for GPU and they both seem to play well together.

xmrig.exe -o prohashing.com:3359 -u myuser-p a=randomx,w=0.05,p=0.05 Just tried it, auto disconnected from Prohashing across the board. No web or miner connectivity until it reset.

Honestly I'd just use the config file instead of the command line, which also allows you to make changes while it is running just by editing the file and saving again.

What error does XMRIG throw?

Tested after the email about mining severs having memory issue.
Ran xmrig.exe -o prohashing.com:3359 -u fddanny -p a=randomx,w=0.05,p=0.05

Instantly cut off from all connections at prohashing.com Web error 409 access denied.. miner.exe stops processing and goes to access denied. It looks like it takes 30 min to reset.

"Access denied" is not an error caused by the Prohashing mining servers. When that error occurs, the client has not yet had a chance to even try to connect to the mining servers, so the problem cannot be caused by us.

The most likely cause is that you have an antivirus program that is running in the background. It sees the miner run and then terminates it and blocks that code for a period of time. A second cause is that you could be running the program from a network drive. In that case, running the program from drive C will resolve the issue.

Thanks Steve, after digging in a lot more it was a two fold issue.
Norton had to be completely shutdown despite configurations to exempt the mining software that would have done CPU mining. Note Symantec now has an Early Adopter Program and they have added crypto mining data to their platform. So my GPU mining is running no issues with Norton 360.
The second culprit was Malwarebytes. That had to be uninstalled and stripped with an uninstaller tool. Only then could I run CPU mining with xmrig.
Until I work out the issues with Norton hating XMrig ill stick to GPU mining for now. It was just an added way to keep my system working at its peak capacity.
Thanks for following up! The good news is my official mining rig is here so soon I will switch over from playing around on my laptop to a dedicated multi card gpu miner.

Regards
Dan
