Cuda on my Surface is slower

Post by OptimusPrime » Tue Apr 20, 2021 7:48 pm

I managed to get the Cuda plugin to load for my miner. However, it seems to be mining at about half the speed as it was before. Are their flags to enable it to use more of the GPU? The header looks like it is capable of 124/3501 MHz, but the console messages are reporting 300/405 MHz. My CPU mining also seems to be halved as well.

screenshots attached. Thank you for your comments.

Update: I read in a thread elsewhere that GPUs don't process well on Monero, so there you have it. I've gone back to CPU-only mining.

That said, if someone has a recommendation on the next best coin for a GPU on the ProHashing Pool, I'd appreciate the suggestion. I'm obviously not doing this to make money, but to learn to play with everything. That said, if I can earn a few extra pennies a day with GPU mining, I'd like to try. I'm not worried about burning up the laptop, I'll back it off if it gets out of hand.

you can use GMiner for ethash, etchash, and equihash 144_5:
https://github.com/develsoftware/GMinerRelease/releases
you can use CryptoDredge with nvidia gpus for neoscrypt:
https://github.com/technobyl/CryptoDredge/releases
I think x17 is also an algorithm for GPU miners, but profitability is usually lower than other algos
