L3+ password argument question

Post by Reaper919 » Mon Dec 18, 2017 10:41 pm

Now this will probably sound really stupid but stick with me, I'm a bit of a noob.

Does the w= argument limit how much power the L3+ uses? For example I put in w=800 but the miner needs to use slightly more than that, would them miner cap at 800 watts?

Yes, I know this sounds stupid and I know the miner will use as much power as it needs but the way it's worded on the Help for prohashing page confuses me.
sets the power this miner consumes, in watts
- from the prohashing argument section

But the w= argument only provides data, and should not interfere with how much the the miner uses, right?
