BIP101 implementation to be made available for altcoins

Given that I have made significant progress on implementing BIP101/4 in litecoin, I thought that it would be interesting to talk about the impressions I received while doing this work. Then, I'll announce that the BIP101 solution will be made available to scrypt-based altcoins along with documentati...

Re: Do Titans have reliability issues?

I think this is a great idea. The only issue I can see with it is how enough profit can be made for us to justify the opportunity cost of writing the code necessary to support firmware downloads. If exclusivity isn't involved, then people could just buy the firmware elsewhere and point it here anywa...

Site running on generator power

The main site and mining server are now running on generator power, after the blizzard where the site is hosted took out power lines. There are two days of propane remaining, so we expect that it will continue operating at least through the weekend. It is unlikely that roads will be cleared until Mo...

Trolls, and why we support upgrading litecoin

This post will talk about the recent discussion over BIP101/4 in litecoin. The first part will talk about trolls, and then I'll discuss what we actually want to happen. I've noticed an interesting pattern over the past few weeks that has only intensified. On reddit and theymos's censored bitcointalk...

Release tonight

There will be a major release of the mining server tonight to eliminate work restart testing and replace it with an even better algorithm. The website will be down at the same time to update it with the documentation for this change. The changes will improve profitability and connectivity, and simpl...

The purpose of the hard transaction limit

As I stated in Forbes last week, I plan to soon request a pull into litecoin to implement the BIP101/4 solution that we proposed last month. The purpose of this post is to explain why I believe that this modified version of BIP101 is the correct one, and why the other proposals for resolving the blo...

Re: It's time to move on

But compare the historical price of Litecoin vs. Bitcoin. https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/btce/ltcbtc It does still seem like Litecoin is near the lowest point it's been... and no signs of reversal. So why would Litecoin seem like a good investment now instead of waiting for Bitcoin Classic. Shou...

Re: KnCMiner Titan Hanging After ProHashing Switch?

This issue will be fixed tomorrow. We have a new server release coming out that eliminates the need for restart testing entirely. You can try what kires said, or just wait and I think performance will be much better then.

Re: Generator failure may cause site downtime

It appears that the power came back online before the UPS failed. I'll talk to Chris to find out more. Thanks for your patience.

Generator failure may cause site downtime

There was a power outage at the server location, and we were informed that the extreme cold this week froze shut the regulator on the propane generator. That means that the only power available is the uninterruptible power supply (UPS). Chris wanted to do a clean shutdown, but his car broke down and...
