Re: Chris investigating issues

The real solution here is simply to fix the capacity issues that necessitate the disconnects in the first place. I was successful in accomplishing another step today. I don't think it's a good idea to spend a lot of time on temporary fixes like disconnecting miners in cleaner ways, since that doesn'...

Status as of Tuesday, November 21, 2017

Good morning! Here's a status update. ⋅  Yesterday, there were database problems that caused the mining server to lose some shares. We were not able to determine the cause of the problems. We only know that they weren't caused by anything in our code, and that it was a Postgres problem. We...

Re: Chris investigating issues

There was something wrong with the database server, which caused it to slow down so that transactions were always blocking each other. After Chris restarted the server, everything returned to normal. We weren't able to determine what was wrong with Postgres, other than that it hadn't been restarted ...

Re: Chris investigating issues

I determined what the cause of this problem is. There are locks on the balance tables that are causing other share inserters to wait for each other. This issue never occurred before, as it was always CPU-limited on the mining server. Chris is trying to see if something happened to the database serve...

Re: Chris investigating issues

Chris seems to have fixed the issue and we restored the previous number of connections. I'll comment more here later after I go eat now.

Yes. We can't figure out what's wrong. It just seems to be running slower, but nothing changed since last night.

Chris investigating issues

Chris is investigating issues with the system and we will probably make a release of new mining server code tonight to enable Livecoin trading.

We limited the number of connections until we can figure out what's happening, but it didn't seem to make any difference.

Reminder: release today

This is just a reminder that there will be a mining server release today. The system will be taken offline for a few minutes while we release new code to publish prices and new block data over WAMP, a prerequisite for parallelizing the mining server. Chris is likely to get started during the early a...
